8:30-9:30 am Playing to Win in Business Shirley Weis, President, Weis Associates, LLC Life is made up of games. How we play, understanding the rules, being resilient in the losses and knowing when to leave the game are all part of Shirley Weis book, Playing to Win in Business. Shirley will engage, empower and connect you to what it takes to play and to win! 9:30-10:30 am MACRA: The Good, the Bad and the Confusing of 2017 Physician Reimbursement Linda Corley, Vice President, Compliance, Xtend Healthcare The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) continues to publish clarifying guidance on the change in professional fee reimbursement from the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule to MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act) will be the initial year of reporting medical outcomes for individual and/or group physicians that will determine the percentage of increase or penalty for payment during The complex reimbursement methodology ends twenty (20) years of professional service payment based on the sustainable growth rate (SGR), and establishes a Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). In addition, professionals may participate in an Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) for determination of payment rates that bypass the MIPS. This session will discuss all the variability built into attainment of optimum, but compliant reimbursement. Ten specific strategies will be presented for asking the appropriate performance and reporting questions, for considering the options available for differing types of medical and specialty services, and for ensuring all pertinent guidance is followed.

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Essentia Health s Journey into Accountable Care Kevin Boren, East Region CFO, Essentia Health 1:00 pm 2:25 pm Hot Topics Panel Session Bill Fenske, CFO, Rice Memorial Hospital (Moderator) Aaron Bloomquist, CFO, North Memorial Health Care Kevin Higgins, CFO, Olmsted Medical Center Alan Lem, CFO, Fairview Health Services This healthcare finance hot topics session will focus on the most pressing issues that finance professionals are facing. A survey will be sent prior to the conference giving attendees an opportunity to get their questions included in the discussion during the panel session. 2:45 pm 3:45 pm Provider-based Departments Are we compliant? Vicki Mueller, Health Care Director, Wipfli Many hospitals have on and off-campus departments that are designated providerbased for Medicare. This designation can have a significant impact on the financial health of an organization, but requires adherence to Medicare regulations. Are your departments compliant with Medicare regulations? With more national attention being placed on the reimbursement of provider-based departments, CMS is focusing on compliance in these provider-based departments. This session will discuss the history of provider-based, important dates that may impact your providerbased status, and criteria that needs to be considered when assessing your providerbased department(s) for compliance with the provider-based regulations.

3:45 pm 4:45 pm Streamlining Patient Access for Enhanced Engagement to Increase POS Collections Deanna Gray, Revenue Cycle Solution Advisor, RelayHealth Financial Tony Rinkenberger, Director, Revenue Cycle Services, Ridgeview Medical Center Ridgeview Medical Center is an independent, regional health care network serving the Twin Cities west-metro area. Its network includes the Waconia-based acute care hospital, two Critical Access Hospitals, a free standing Emergency Department and Urgent Care at Two-Twelve Medical Center and a multitude of primary and specialty care clinics, emergency services and specialty programs. As the healthcare landscape evolves leading to much higher out of pocket expenses for consumers, RMC learned that is increasingly important to have meaningful conversations utilizing technology to set the stage early in the revenue cycle for an overall positive clinical and financial experience. Insurance coverage options are changing rapidly in the marketplace for patients, and it is challenging to keep up with plan/benefit variables. Hospitals are facing higher self pay receivable and an increase in cost to collect after discharge, potentially missing opportunities to convert seemingly uninsured A/R to insurance A/R. Access personnel and financial counselors are challenged to efficiently register patients without delaying care, and to understand and explain their patients benefits. In order to combat the trend, it is essential to explore technology, workflow enhancements, and education to equip all stakeholders to better understand the global healthcare picture at the individual encounter level as early as possible. Learn how RMC successfully reversed the trend, in less than six months.

8:30 am 9:30 am Safety, Life and a Just Culture Natasha Nicol, Director of Global Patient Safety Affairs, Cardinal Health Consulting Services Humans are inescapably fallible. If we can learn to accept and embrace this truth, we are able to build safer systems that allow for our fallibility. This interactive session explores the tenets of a just culture and human behavioral choices. In every system, there are inherent faults and vulnerabilities that may lead to error. If we work to understand and learn where inherent faults lie and why humans make the behavioral choices they do, we are able to build safer systems. Without a true just culture, where reporting of safety events is encouraged and rewarded, safety can never be improved. 9:30 am 10:30 am Price Decisions Driven by Industry Changes vs. Price Change Driven by Business Decisions Kathy Parsons, Director, Revenue Cycle and Managed Care CentraCare Health Brian Workinger, Business Solutions Consultant, Craneware Consumerism and competitive healthcare marketplace and changing economic landscape, strategic processes are necessary to proactively offer understandable, market-appropriate service pricing. It is necessary to have a balance on whether the industry or business decision drive an organization s pricing structure. Healthcare provider participants from the financial, clinical, and operational areas want to better understand how to utilize the CDM in achieving best outcomes.

10:45 am 11:45 am People Styles Mark Kostreba, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing, Med A/Rx This fun oriented workshop reveals the strengths and weaknesses of four different people styles, providing practical techniques that you can apply in your work environment and personal life. We all have a preference for writing with either the left or right hand, we also have different ways of processing information such as relying on concrete observations or paying attention to our intuition. Similarly, some people make decisions by using a logical, systematic process. Others come to conclusions based more on a "feeling" that something seems right or not.
