Ensure quality services that meet regulatory/accreditation requirements, deliver safe effective care for medical patients, provides analysis of outcomes, is responsible for patient satisfaction/employee satisfaction, and develops/implements strategies to meet and surpass organizational goals for the service. Provide leadership which aligns the service goals with the organizational strategic direction. Provide financial stewardship by monitoring, analyzing and developing budgetary trends and implements strategies to increase revenue/decrease costs, and cost-effectively manage personnel, supply and equipment resources within the service. Led expansion of Medicine Progressive Care Unit from 12 beds to 24 beds. Led expansion of Medicine Intensive Care Unit from 18 beds to 30 beds. Tier I for Workforce Engagement for both direct reports and overall service line for FY15. Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, Washington Nurse Manager Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit & Emergency Department August 2008 December 2012 Managed day-to-day operations of a sixteen-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, a 17-bed Emergency Department, and House Nursing Supervisors with approximately 110 direct reports. Retention rate > 92% for three years in row. Maintained a two percent variance of an $8 million operational budget. Led Cardiovascular ICU to Beacon Designation in Led multi-disciplinary team to assess the care and patient flow of septic patients identified in Emergency Department. This work resulted in decreased sepsis mortality for this population from 65% to less than 15% over a two year period. Maintain best practice in ED throughput with average process time at 2.5 hours. Collaborated intradepartmental and interdepartmentally to identify, design and implement patient safety, quality, patient centered care focused around balanced scorecard. Currently exceeding balanced scorecard measures for CVLBSI < 1.1 per 1000 line days, VAP < 1.0 per 1000 ventilator days (zero in over two years), CAUTI < 2.2 per 1000 device days. Clinical Nurse IV

3 Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit August 2006 August 2008 Provided nursing care of cardiothoracic surgery patients for the adolescent to geriatric patient populations. Provide specific critical care skills, including care of ventricular assist devices and intraaortic balloon pumps. Coordinated orientation and precepting for new employees and mentorship program. Acted as a formal and informal mentor for nurses across the spectrum of experience and competence. Provided managerial support, including approval of schedule, management of timecards, supervision of support personnel, performance review, budget, and staff development initiatives. Coordinated and assisted with multiple research studies, including Perceptions within a Mentorship Program, Utilizing Evidence-Based Literature to Guide the Development of an Oral Care Protocol, and Mixed Venous Blood Sampling: What is Best Practice? Clinical Nurse Education Specialist Department of Nursing Practice, Education, and Research November 2004 August 2006 Coordinated unit orientation and ongoing educational programs for RN staff within the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center, Cardiothoracic Step-down and Telemetry Unit. Provided educational opportunities and programs throughout the Critical Care Units. Implemented AACN s Essentials of Critical Care Orientation into critical care educational program and coordinated the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Coordinated and assisted with multiple research studies including Nursing Grand Rounds as a Medium for the Continuing Education of Nurses, Educational Opportunities for Experienced Staff: Do They Make a Difference?, and Perception Versus Reality: Nurse Utilization of Insulin Drip Protocols in the Burn Intensive Care Unit. Clinical Nurse II North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center August 2002 November 2004 Provided nursing care of the burn patient from infant to geriatric, provided critical care skills, acute and rehabilitation care from admission to discharge. Performed nursing research targeted toward staff education. Was a primary preceptor. Participated in outreach programs, including fire/burn prevention.
