Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, Washington Nurse Manager Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit & Emergency Department August 2008 December 2012 Managed day-to-day operations of a sixteen-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, a 17-bed Emergency Department, and House Nursing Supervisors with approximately 110 direct reports. Retention rate > 92% for three years in row. Maintained a two percent variance of an $8 million operational budget. Led Cardiovascular ICU to Beacon Designation in Led multi-disciplinary team to assess the care and patient flow of septic patients identified in Emergency Department. This work resulted in decreased sepsis mortality for this population from 65% to less than 15% over a two year period. Maintain best practice in ED throughput with average process time at 2.5 hours. Collaborated intradepartmental and interdepartmentally to identify, design and implement patient safety, quality, patient centered care focused around balanced scorecard. Currently exceeding balanced scorecard measures for CVLBSI < 1.1 per 1000 line days, VAP < 1.0 per 1000 ventilator days (zero in over two years), CAUTI < 2.2 per 1000 device days. Clinical Nurse IV
