The work icludes costructig a 7.65-kilometre log tuel sectio cosistig of 5.08 kilometres of twi-track tuels, a pair of sigle-track tuels ad vetilatio buildigs. I order to esure the safety of our people iside these tuels, a striget access cotrol system has bee implemeted where everyoe eterig the tuels is required to atted a tuel iductio sessio ad be able to use self-cotaied breathig apparatus, kow as a self-rescuer. They must also tag i at the tally room before eterig the tuel ad tag out whe they exit. Tuel costructio ivolves a sequece of evets, each with their ow safety risks. They are: drillig, chargig the explosives, evacuatio, blast ad vetilatio, muckig out ad scalig, rock bolt istallatio ad shotcretig. The major risks throughout this process are: Rock fall durig drillig, blastig ad the muckig out process Accidetal detoatio of explosives Accumulatio of toxic fumes after blastig allig from height Dust ad oise hazard A release ote system has also bee implemeted to further restrict access to areas close to the rock face. This system requires the resposible perso to sig off at each stage of the cycle ad the forema or supervisor to erect physical barriers to demarcate the rock face. urthermore, explosives shall oly be charged after the whole face has bee completely drilled. Very importatly, good vetilatio is maitaied to avoid the accumulatio of toxic fume. Adequate lightig, first aid ad fire-fightig equipmet are istalled at desigated locatios iside the tuel to help esure the safety of our tuel workers. Issue

It was a amazig celebratio with all employees ad subcotractors ejoyig a fu family day out with plety of good food, dacig, sigig, games ad prizes. Outstadig safety achievemets Mogolia HSE leaders meet at Wahaa Coal Mie The Wahaa Coal Mie was the locatio of the secod HSE workshop this year, which took place from October uder the theme, Aligmet of the HSE maagemet of LAL miig services. The major outcome from the workshop was a agreemet for the aligmet of BU2 ad BU3 HSE maagemet systems. The HSE Maagers of both busiess uits will meet over the ext couple of weeks to complete the aligmet proposal before presetig it to the busiess uits maagemet teams. This great iitiative will allow our miig operatios across Idoesia, Mogolia ad the Philippies to share their experieces ad lear from each other. The Wahaa Coal Mie recetly itroduce their impressive ew hot seat shift chage system for dump trucks, which is curretly beig trialled. This system reduces the eed for trucks to reverse, thereby elimiatig the risk of operators beig struck by trucks through a hard cotrol desig. UHG Coal Mie To provide traiee equipmet operators at the UHG Mie with the ecessary practical traiig, a ew field traiig area was established at the site i September. Developed by Productio Superitedet Jamie Stewart ad the traiig team, the traiig area measures about 400 metres by 600 metres ad is desiged to give traiees the opportuity to apply skills acquired i the classroom i a realistic ad safe eviromet. Traiees go through safe operatio procedures, pre-start ispectio, operatig techiques ad emergecy scearios o various equipmet, icludig trucks, graders, dozers ad loaders. The field traiig is part of three weeks of classroom istructio, pit observatio with experieced operators, simulator traiig ad pit productio traiig that traiees must pass before qualifyig as operators. Up to 100 traiees are expected to udergo field traiig each year. Khushuut Executive Directors Safety Iitiative Award The mothly Executive Directors Safety Iitiative Award i August wet to members of the Khushuut Coal Mie s maiteace crew for itroducig safety iovatios that reduce workig at height ad access risks associated with workig o track-mouted dozers.
