13 Daniel was keen to study human movement with a strong interest in fitness, strength training and injury rehabilitation. Early in my degree, I developed an interest in how to improve physical performance, particularly with athletes, and decided to focus my studies in the area of sports and exercise science. I gained invaluable experience working in a high performance sport environment. It was great to work with people who I had admired from afar for some time. After graduating, Daniel was awarded a UniSA and Port Adelaide Football Club PhD scholarship and now works with elite athletes and experienced coaches to uncover the science behind sport. 18 Growing up in rural South Australia, Ella always knew she wanted to contribute to regional and remote health services. Having recently completed a Bachelor of Nursing, Ella was taught by clinicians at the forefront of the profession. I loved learning from Registered Nurses who taught from experience, not just books. They demonstrated first-hand how the profession is progressing. I thoroughly enjoyed my placements and UniSA were brilliant in placing me close to my hometown. Structured placement blocks gave me the confidence I needed to begin my career as a Registered Nurse. Ella Head / BACHELOR OF NURSING 16

21 Fares currently works as a Clinical Pharmacist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and is also a Pharmaceutical Officer in the Australian Defence Force Army Reserves. I wanted a qualification that opened doors to different career pathways, and this is exactly what my pharmacy degree delivered. Having a highly interactive program meant we practiced counselling skills in a simulated community pharmacy environment, which contained all the medications necessary to reflect real-life practice. I ve managed to work in both hospital and community pharmacy, tutored pharmacy students at UniSA and published and presented my research at multiple national conferences around Australia. Fares is currently completing his Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice at UniSA to enhance his clinical knowledge and further optimise patient care. 23 A curiosity for human health and science led Hamish to explore the field of medical science. During his bachelor degree, Hamish had the opportunity to complete some courses through cross-institutional study. I studied the second year of my degree at the Australian National University and gained so much from this experience. I developed my character, strengths, perseverance and resilience through self-directed learning and living. It also helped me narrow down the fields of science I wanted to focus on. Interested in the relationship between human health and environmental sustainability, Hamish plans to pursue a career in research. Hamish Morelli / BACHELOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCE 21
