4 COMING SOON: The Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center Start Your Journey to Good Health at Our New Facility If you are actively working to improve your health or interested in getting on that path, stay tuned. You will soon have access to innovative programs and services through the Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center, all designed to help you achieve your physical fitness, health and wellness goals. The fitness and wellness center will occupy a portion of the newly constructed Tyrone Hospital Health and Wellness Building located on the Tyrone Hospital campus. A portion of the new building will become the new home for several physician practices including Cove Surgical Associates, Heimer Eye Care Associates, Advanced Regional Center for Ankle and Foot Care, Nittany Eye Associates and the Breast Cancer & Women s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania. The new Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center, along with ProCare Physical Therapy will occupy the remaining portion of the building. Programs for the new Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center are being developed through a partnership between Tyrone Hospital and ProCare Therapy and Fitness, the area s leading rehabilitation and fitness organization, and the only regional organization offering wellness, physical fitness and therapy services. Leaders from the partnering organizations are excited about what they describe as a facility that will not be the typical gym environment and will feature services recognized as important trends in the healthcare industry. We are thrilled about this opportunity to expand our relationship with ProCare and engage their fitness expertise, says Stephen Gildea, Tyrone Hospital CEO. ProCare has been Tyrone Hospital s rehabilitation provider for more than 8 years. Their successful track record in the fitness and wellness realm will be a great complement to Tyrone Hospital for our new initiatives related to health and wellness. Plans are to offer programs to address various aspects of health including programs for physical activity and fitness, injury prevention, health and functional assessments, nutrition and health education. We intend to offer all of these programs to our local businesses and industry so they can work to improve the health of their employees and their employee s families. A healthier workforce will keep long term health insurance costs down. We are all facing significant increases in health insurance over the next few years. Keeping employees healthier reduces health insurance claims and helps to maintain expenses related to 4 Your Health Choice
5 health insurance, says Gildea. A special feature will be the availability of a registered nurse acting as a health coach. The health coach will offer individuals professional guidance to develop a personalized wellness plan with respect to their unique health circumstances. The Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center will be a valuable resource for area employers who will be able to access the facility s services for their employee health programs. There is also a nature walking trail on the Tyrone Hospital campus that can be used by facility users and community members alike. The walking trails are being enhanced with directional signs and distance markers. These trails provide an opportunity to extend physical fitness to the outdoors. Jim Foreman, President of ProCare Therapy and Fitness, says the Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center will be a hub for improving the lives of anyone who truly wants to make a change for the better in their lives. Wellness and Well Being aren t just catch words or phrases for us. At ProCare these are philosophies that we have lived by for more than a decade in this region. Mr. Foreman adds, For Tyrone Hospital and ProCare to partner in these efforts will be game changing for the Tyrone community and the local businesses in terms of providing wellness services from which individual residents and the business sector can greatly benefit. Mr. Foreman also says the facility will give people an opportunity to try different programs and classes to keep their wellness journey interesting, fresh and varied. ProCare s complementary expertise in both the fitness and rehabilitation arenas along with the registered nurse health coach is an added bonus for those who may have health or medical concerns and need special guidance to achieve their specific wellness goals. Watch for an upcoming open house to be hosted by Tyrone Hospital and ProCare! It will be an opportunity for the public and area employers to tour the new Tyrone Fitness and Wellness Center, meet staff and gather detailed information about the facility s offerings. Tyrone Hospital NamedTop 100 Tyrone Hospital was selected by Pennsylvania Business Central, a regional business publication, for its annual Top 100 Organizations listing.
