4 Solicitation Overview SOLICITATION PURPOSE: The City of Houston, Houston Airport System is looking for a sanitary sewer construction firm, who is experienced in tunneling and tunnel boring machine to submit Proposals for the construction services to improve airside sanitary sewer lines and related facilities serving Terminal A at George Bush International Airport (IAH). The qualified construction firm will provide such construction services; all work shall be constructed to meet latest FAA standards and procedures. 4

17 Project Scope and Overview Project Background The existing 18-inch sanitary sewer handles 70% of the sanitary flow for the Airport. Under PN 642A we found a 900 foot sag in the 1968 era original line and a 6 foot piece of liner that had fallen. This was repaired and the lines were cleaned and video taped. The second line is in excess of 20 years and has stress cracks. 17

18 Project Scope and Overview Project Scope Replace the existing 18 inch sanitary lines with new fiberglass 24 inch lines encased in a steel liner. Install aircraft rated manholes to restore accessibility and to allow maintenance. New system has a projected life of 50 years. Tunnel boring and open cut method will be utilized to install. 18
