Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the 4-H program. BEEF AND DAIRY STEER EXHIBITOR REMINDERS The summary of weigh-in will be posted at following URL by this Friday. Information Please be sure to check all information. If you see an item that needs corrected, contact the Extension Office no later than January 15 th to make the correction. Otherwise, what is on the summary will be final for projects and members. BEEF STATE FAIR TAGS If you will be showing your beef steer project at the Ohio State Fair in 2018, you will need to have an EID tag and hair samples sent to the state fair office no later than January 15, Packets are available at the Extension Office if you one. 2 ADVISOR TRAININGS for 2018 Please mark your calendars to attend one of the following training sessions for January 16 th 10am to noon January 16 th - 6pm-8pm January 17 th - 6pm-8pm January 18th - 6pm- 8pm This training will be to teach everyone how to use our on-line enrollment system. Beginning in 2018, families will be able to enroll themselves on-line. No more collecting paperwork and making sure it reaches the Extension Office by the deadline. The computer will have a built in cut-off date of March 1, 2018 at midnight. You will be able to start making entries as soon as you receive training. All families new and returning will have a window of time to properly enroll their project for the year. Families will receive important information through the on-line system. Advisors will be able to print reports to help them better manage their clubs. All advisors will be trained to assist members with enrollment. The Extension Office will also have a computer room set up in the office for any families to come in and enroll themselves from January 22 nd March 1. We will be here to assist anyone who does not have access to computers or would just like help going through the process. Once advisors are trained and you have your profiles set-up, you will be able to complete your annual Policy 1.50 Child Abuse training on-line. Once we have everyone up and comfortable with 4Honline, you will be able to complete trainings, sign up for events, youth will be able to sign up for judging and skill-a-thon times, etc. During these cold winter days THINK SUMMER FUN!! Camp gift certificates are available at the Extension Office. Give any amount from $10-$210. Junior Camp 3 rd 8 th grade June 26 th -30 th. Cost $210 ONLY ONE JR. CAMP THIS YEAR. Space will be given on a first come-first serve basis beginning April 1, Camp is open to non 4-H members if space is available New Teen Camp 8 th - 12th grade July 6 th -9 th. Cost $140 Multi County Camp for older youth. Cloverbud Camp K-2 nd Grade June 11 th and 12 th. $40

MARKET TURKEY and PYGMY GOAT The Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge is blasting off for 2018! This year the theme is all about space and learning ways in which humans could live in space for extended periods. This is a great event where Cloverbuds work in teams to problem-solve using STEM skills. Teams research the topic, build a model of their solution out of interlocking bricks (ie: Mega Blocks), create a poster illustrating their work and present to families and other teams at the Cloverbot Challenge on June 9 at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. 4 NEW 4-H PARTNERSHIP JOANN Fabrics has partnered with the National 4-H Council to bring more hands-on 4-H programs to youth. Current members, parents and volunteers can sign-up for the JOANN 4-H Rewards Card and receive 15% off total in-store and online purchases. The program will take place at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center, just 1 mile from the Washington, D.C. border. For more than 50 years, thousands of 4-H ers have participated in our high school program, Citizenship Washington Focus and now we are happy to introduce its precursor for middle school 4-H'ers, LWF. Middle school 4-H delegates will: Build confidence in their ability to motivate and direct others in meaningful action Practice effective communication with others through group discussion and public speaking Work with others to create and accomplish goals Develop an understanding of their own personal leadership style Exchange ideas, practice respect, and form friendships with other 4-H'ers from across the nation. Experience hands-on learning using the historical backdrop of Washington, D.C. Participants will enjoy Motivational speakers and educational workshops that increase individual leadership capability and build lifetime skills for success Activities that encourage and form new lasting friendships with other 4-H youth An enthusiastic staff of young adults that work directly with them Participants are immersed in the culture and history of our nation through on-site workshops at D.C. s most spectacular sights. One of the week s signature events, called Night View, is a spectacular evening tour where delegates will reflect on the different types of leadership conveyed through the symbolism of our national monuments and memorials.
