The process of industrialization has only known a forward march since its inception in the 19 th and 20 th century. The fast pace of this process after the cold war era cannot be overemphasized.

2 The process of industrialization has only known a forward march since its inception in the 19 th and 20 th century. The fast pace of this process after the cold war era cannot be overemphasized. Today we are thought to have entered the 4 th Industrial Revolution which is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. It is marked by emerging technology breakthroughs in a number of fields, including robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, nanotechnology, quantum computing, biotechnology, The Internet of Things, 3D printing and autonomous vehicles. Unlike the first, second and third industrial revolutions which had specific geographical origins mainly the western world, the 4 th industrial revolution seems to have occurred simultaneously across the globe. Industrialization has been chiefly responsible for urbanization and that comes with its own challenges. Probably the one major advantage of the industrial era is the opportunity to create mass jobs for the populace. The other is the exploitation of natural resources and adding value to create finished products that are needed for direct consumption. The current government has through its flagship policies taken a proactive stance on industrializing Ghana. The planting for food and jobs and the one district one factory are two of such policies. Whilst one seeks to push for primary production in agriculture, the other seeks to add value to the raw materials - which is the byproduct of agriculture by engaging industry. There is therefore the need for government to oversee the establishment of strategic value adding industries for processing of outputs from local primary production activities for high end-user markets in the value chain. This will happen if local content policies are strengthened to empower local participation in this ambitious project and also harnessing international know-how through latest technology in production processes. The summit will touch on many topics that will converge ideas on how to take advantage of international demand for high-end products to grow our industrial sectors. Topics such as Value-addition prospects and available capacity in existing industries, Utilizing latest industrial technologies in production processes, Harnessing the potential of renewable energy as a cheaper source of power for industrial growth, Availability of power to feed the value-added industrialization, Technology exchange programmes with international partners would be addressed by seasoned industrialists and financial experts from Ghana and other nations. 02

The Association of Ghana Industries would be hosting the Ghana Industrial Summit under its national local content umbrella from the 18 th to the 20 th of September 2018 still pushing the

3 The Association of Ghana Industries would be hosting the Ghana Industrial Summit under its national local content umbrella from the 18 th to the 20 th of September 2018 still pushing the industrialization discussion from 2017 focusing on value addition with the theme International partnerships for value-added Industrial and local content development The summit will assemble policy makers, actors in the industrial space, international and local speakers on current technological advancements in industry and entrepreneurs. The discussions is anticipated to bring to the fore, cutting edge solutions to road blocks to industrial advancement in Ghana with the view to enhancing value addition to primary production. The end result is to make Ghana a leading exporter of high value end products from its natural resources and thereby impacting positively on the economy. The Summit will focus on: Conferences B2B Interactions Local Content policy discussions Networking Exhibitions JUSTIFICATION: This is currently the only programme in Ghana that congregates industrialists and service providers to network, showcase their products and services and brainstorm on matters of policy direction, programme review and allied issues. The Ghana Industrial Summit & Exhibition is a national initiative to promote and acknowledge entrepreneurship, recognize pioneering industrialists and inspire higher standards in value and volume of domestic production. GOAL: The Ghana Industrial Summit & Exhibition is primarily designed for industrialists both in Ghana and beyond to meet and brainstorm and share ideas on moving the private sector forward, create enormous awareness and interest from all Ghanaians on the benefits of industrialization, patronizing Made-in-Ghana goods, realizing the One District, One Factory project and aims to persuade manufacturers operating from all over the world that Ghana is the new haven for industrialization. We wish to state here that the event is also targeted at encouraging industrial development and harnessing the capacities of local industries and services to boost economic growth which is the vision of the government in attaining an industrialized economy. 03

9 APPLICATION Interested individuals and companies should contact the AGI secretariat for application forms. APPLICATION FORM Once the application form is fully completed by the applicant, it shall be submitted with the requisite fee per the fee schedule to the Association of Ghana Industries. International participants should send the fully completed application forms via to AGI on or before 15 th August A completed application form and payment of fees will qualify an applicant for space allocation. EXHIBITION SPACE Allocation of exhibition space shall be done by organizers on a first-come first-served (FCFS) basis with reference to the exhibition model above; Energy village, Oil & Gas village, Manufacturing village, Services village and International village. It is the sole responsibility of AGI to allocate exhibition stands to exhibiting companies. Exhibitors shall be solely responsible for any damage to exhibition booths, lighting and any other structure provided by the organizers. All additions to standard booths that is likely to affect the nature of the booths or the environment within which they exhibit shall be done in consultation with the event organizers. 10 CONSTRUCTION OF STANDS The Exhibition grounds shall be made accessible to exhibitors for the purposes of decorating and mounting of exhibits, materials and products. The date for this activity would be communicated to exhibitors as the time approaches. Prior to this date, or on the same date, construction of exhibition booths would be done. CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT OF SUMMIT/EXPO The organizers shall not be liable for any loss incurred by any exhibitor, participant or third-party contractor or any persons for that matter for the cancellation or postponement of the summit/expo as a result of Force majeure, Acts of any unrest or riots, legislation by Government of Ghana, fire, flood, storms, earthquakes or any other act or event that may have an extreme negative impact for which the event may not be held. The organizers are committed to refund payments made by exhibitors up to 50%. SECURITY Adequate security shall be provided at the exhibition grounds. Exhibitors shall however be responsible for the security of their stands, exhibits, materials and product. AGI will not be held liable for any loss, theft and damage to such items. DISPUTES The AGI Events Planning committee shall be the first point of call in the event of any disputes, questions, queries and wellbeing of exhibitors in the entire duration of the Summit/Expo.
