Instrumental Training: All new users will receive training on the instruments they wish to use for their projects. There will also be opportuni*es to learn addi*onal instrumenta*on as scheduling allows. Addi*onal refresher courses and Advanced train can be made available to those previously trained. Course Module Development: We realize that not all faculty have the *me to conduct research but s*ll would like their students to u*lize the instrumenta*on in the core. We can work with faculty to develop modules for their courses using the instrumenta*on and possibly lead by core staff based on availability. Advice: Science is fun to talk about. The core staff tries to stay update with what is being done in the literature. We would love to talk to you about your research and anything we could help with. We are available to discuss all different aspects of your experiments funding requests, experimental approach, sample prepara*on, purchasing supplies, data collec*on and analysis. No ques*on is too big or small; please contact us with any queries you have. Collabora:on: We are happy to take an ac*ve role in your research and contribute prac*cal and intellectual input into your projects where we can. We are currently staff limited and thus limited for *me to collaborate. Any formal collabora*on needs to be approved by the Core Laboratory Director. Host Demonstra:ons: If your lab is interested in tes*ng a piece of equipment not available on campus it may be easier for you (and beher for the company and other users) if the demonstra*on be hosted by SCLARE. This helps research a larger audience and capture cross campus interest which could help in future funding. Sample Analysis: Sample analysis can be completed by the core staff as *me permits and under other limited circumstances. The laboratory strives to get faculty and students to be ac*ve users capable to run on their own. The supply of undergraduate students wan*ng to conduct research is high and training in the core is free Help with lab equipment on campus: The core staff has numerous years working on a variety of instruments. While there is no guarantee we can fix it or determine what is broken we can always look at it when schedules allow. 18 July 22, 2012 Footer text here 6
