7 DIGILE s Business Ecosystem and terminology In- house assets Company A Business concept project Company B Business concept project Company C Business concept project Shared assets Ecosystem core Business pilot 1 Business pilot 2 WHY? Ra*onale and opportunity WHO? Customer(s) targeted WHAT? Value proposi*on WHAT FOR? Ques*ons to be addressed Business ecosystem is a collec*on of companies making business, collabora*ng, or compe*ng by u*lising the ecosystem core, which is a common and shared set of assets technology, plahorms, interfaces, processes, standards or knowledge u*lised by the members of the ecosystem in their business. Business concept is an early phase business case or an iden*fied business opportunity, with a high level of uncertainty, and requiring valida*on. Business pilot is a business se-ng providing the real- life use cases, users, customers and other context to enable valida*on of commercial offerings and business models. Each company par*cipa*ng in a business ecosystem program has their own, company- specific business concept project and decides what results of their work to share within the consor*um (access rights), and what results to keep in- house. The shared assets are collected into an ecosystem core to which all par9es have access rights. All partners have to contribute to the ecosystem core. The actual work is organised into joint business pilots in which at least two partners collaborate within a real life business se-ng. In addi*on to the ecosystem parrtners there may be par*es involved who provide the business pilots ac*ng as the pilot customers.
