9 Board Meeting Date: September 10, 2018 Executive: Ruby Hayden Student Services General Update Student Services is gearing up to roll our Legend software out to all students and all faculty in the Fall term! In-Service training will be available for faculty and our collaboration with Marketing for materials for both students and faculty is moving smartly along. Admissions & Enrollment Services: The BAS application cycle has now ended. We received over 120 applications for 6 BAS programs with Fall starts. We also launched our new online application system part way through the cycle in addition to the usual paper applications. Student feedback indicates the system was easy to use. We are excited to bring this technology to better serve our students. We received a record number of nursing applications this cycle over 170. We implemented something new this year and offered those who did not get in an opportunity for admission to the BAS in Public Health or Behavioral Health. Outreach & Recruitment: Over the summer, LWTech Outreach and Recruitment hosted or was present at many on- and off-campus events, including: o Multiple campus tours o Care Day o Redmond Derby Days o DIY Women s Auto Care Workshop o Kirkland Summerfest o Mini-Maker Faire o o PAX Representing LWTech on the Education Committee for the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce The Workforce Development Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator has continued a weekly presence at WorkSource Redmond, Seattle-King County Community Court at the Redmond Library, Hopelink Bellevue, and YWCA Family Village Job/Education Resource Fairs. Early Learning Center: In Fall quarter the center will implement the use of ipads not only for parents to sign children in and out of the center but also, manage child portfolios, easily transfer pictures, message our families, and give teachers easier access to emergency contacts. Student Development: Effective July 1, the student services division went through a small re-organization and the Outreach and Admission Coaching team now reports through this area. Additionally, using 1000 aerospace funding, we were able to hire a new recruiter focused exclusively on our engineering programs.

10 TRiO We are implementing a new software that is compatible with our Hobsons software package. TutorTrac will track all information associated with students using The Learning Lab and generate custom reports for our accreditation and federal reporting needs. Workforce Development Kate Conant retired at the end of August. Kate has served us for the past decade in the Employment Resource Center. Kate brought job search, resume writing, and interviewing workshops directly into the classroom and maximized the career services online system to connect students and alumni to jobs and internships. We are grateful for Kate s creativity, and willingness to help colleagues. Kate will be missed! During the academic year, Workforce Development hosted 5 Community Resource Fairs with approximately 28 Community Based Organizations at each event. These events were sponsored by LWTech WFD, Redmond Worksource, City of Kirkland, City of Redmond, and the King County Library System. The goal was to provide regular access to community and college resources and services for marginalized and at-risk students and community members. These resources included services to address homelessness, food insecurity, financial planning, mental health, domestic violence, transportation issues, substance abuse, employment services, and access to education. In all, approximately 750 people attendee these events. Dates for the academic year have been set. The LWTech Community Resource Fair will be held quarterly on October 9th, February 12th, and May 14th. Workforce Development launched a new Food Benefits workshop during Summer This workshop will help students access food assistance and other resources from DSHS. The focus is in breaking down the stigma attached to receiving public assistance and identifying it as another form of financial aid. Once students enroll in the DSHS Food Benefits program, they will likely qualify for the BFET program at LWTech, which will give them access to individualized advising support, funds to pay for books and supplies, childcare assistance through Working Connection Childcare, and referrals to other college and community resources. We plan to continue to offer this workshop multiple times throughout the upcoming year.
