The specific provisions my Appendix G Oppose Amend Popular bathing sites should include Makarewa River at Wallacetown. Physiographic Zones To stipulate what farmers can and cant do on the zones is taking to far. The zones can be recognised but only as background information the science and mapping is not robust enough to take it further than that. Policy 18 I support the use of sheep grazing, as one of the tools in managing the vegetation around the water bodies.

3 The specific provisions my Rule 14 The 10 metres is too much, 3 metres is enough as there would be too much productive adversely affected. In Rule 14 (a) (2) the 10 metres be reduced to 3 metres. Rule 20 (d) Rule 22 (b) To say that Dairy farming is a non-complying activity is too strong a stipulation, it would adversely affect property values and future opportunities. Dairy farming and winter grazing be a discretionary activity. Rule 23 Intensive winter grazing. The 20 & 50 ha's mentioned in (b) (III) & (iv) be allowed to be greater on larger properties. Rule 23 (b) (VIII) (2) & (3) Intensive Winter Grazing 3 metres is an adequate buffer zone 10 & 20 metres is an excessive waste of ground. That 3 metres width be the only buffer zone Rule 25 Cultivation on sloping ground (a) (i) (1), (2) & (3) be 3 metres as this an adequate buffer zone (a) (ii) The 20 degrees be increased to 25 degrees and that it has to be 50% of the paddock. Management requirements The word cultivation includes the words or spraying. This is not adequately defined it should be used to describe the grazing of fodder beet, Kale and swedes that have a yield in excess of 8000 kgs of dry matter/ha.and not include green feeds. Nutrient Budget would only need to be done for dairying farms and those with a high proportion of winter grazing. the words "or spraying" be taken out as this is not cultivation. and the date range be mid May to mid August.
