1 2018 NZDE SCHOLARSHIP Application Form The purpose of the award is to provide Māori or Pasifika, or female, students under the age of 25 years with the opportunity to access scholarships to complete the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Level 6). Criteria Applicants must be of New Zealand Māori or Pasifika descent, and under the age of 25 OR be female and under the age of 25 Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a NZDE programme at MIT Applicants must provide a confirmation of the programme that has been applied for. How much is the scholarship worth? Each scholarship is designed to cover two years of tuition fees for a diploma, up to the value of $7,000 per year. When do students need to apply? Applicants must have submitted their fully completed application by 5pm, Friday 6th July 2018.

5 2018 NZDE SCHOLARSHIP Terms and Conditions The following terms and conditions relate to the scholarship offered by Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) in respect of the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE). By submitting an application for the scholarship, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. What is the scholarship? 1. The scholarship shall be known as the NZDE Scholarship. 2. The purpose of the award is to provide Māori, Pasifika or female students under the age of 25 years with the opportunity to access scholarships to complete the NZDE. 3. MIT shall award up to 10 scholarships, each for two years full tuition fees for the NZDE intake starting in semester 2, Each scholarship will be awarded to a maximum value of $7,000 per year. The total value of each scholarship is a maximum value of $14,000. Who is eligible? 5. Candidates for the Scholarship must be: a. under the age of 25 as at the start date of Semester 2, 2018; b. either (i) of Māori or Pasifika descent, or (ii) female; c. a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident; and d. meet the entry requirements for the NZDE. 6. An employee of MIT or its subsidiaries or an immediate family member thereof cannot apply for the scholarship. How do I apply? 7. Scholarship Application forms will be available at MIT s Information and Application Centre (see address below) and on the MIT webpage ( ac.nz). Any required supporting documents or other requirements are listed on the application form. 8. To apply, candidates must submit a completed enrolment form for the NZDE and a completed Scholarship Application Form (and attach photocopies of all supporting documents) to MIT by Friday 6th July 2018, 5pm. Completed enrolments and applications may be submitted to any of the below addresses: a. Any applications received after this date will not be accepted. How and when will a decision be made? 10. The Faculty of Engineering and Trades (Faculty) will review and assess all enrolments and applications by Monday 23rd July Short listed applicants will be required to attend an interview with the Faculty between the dates of Monday 16 July Wednesday 18th July All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application after Friday 20th July The Faculty has complete discretion in assessing applications for the Scholarship. The decision of the Faculty is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into. What happens if I receive a scholarship? 13. The offer of a scholarship must be accepted by the date indicated in the letter of offer. If any candidate declines or does not take up the scholarship, the Faculty may offer the scholarship to another person. 14. The scholarship must be taken for the NZDE intake starting in semester 2, No deferrals will be accepted. 15. By accepting a scholarship, each recipient agrees to participate in publicity concerning the scholarship as arranged by MIT. 16. The scholarship is for two years full tuition fees for the NZDE. Any other costs, such as student service levies and the cost of any course materials must be met by the student. 17. The scholarship will be reflected on your invoice from MIT. You will need to make arrangement to pay for any invoiced amount that is not covered by your scholarship in accordance with MIT s Fee Payment Policy. 18. To continue to be eligible for the scholarship, scholarship recipients must successfully complete and pass all courses each semester. The Dean of the Faculty may terminate any scholarship with immediate effect if the recipient fails to obtain passing grades in any semester of study. 19. If the recipient does not complete a full semester of study during the term of the scholarship, the Faculty may require him or her to refund part or all of the scholarship amount for that semester.
