2 Main Street Revitalization Project & Recreational Trail Network Initiative A Small Communities Fund infrastructure grant has been applied for by the town. This multi-phased project will remove what remains of the sidewalks in two blocks of Lynn Lake s downtown on both sides of Sherritt avenue between Cobalt Street and Miner Street. The sidewalk will be paved with asphalt, bike lanes created, allow for improved storefronts, benches, and café seating. The revitalization will mark the beginning of a trail network to promote recreational activity, will improve a recently cleaned up lot used for community gatherings, and future phases will revitalize adjacent areas toward the museum grounds. An architect has been contracted to create conceptual architectural renderings of the downtown, museum grounds, and beach (initial renderings are displayed). The architect from FRAKT4L Architects will travel to Lynn Lake in September to consult with the community regarding the vision. 2/10

10 Free Provincial Park Entry for Labour Day Weekend The Manitoba government will once again offer free entry to provincial parks to mark the Labour Day long weekend. Manitoba summers are a wonderful time to get outdoors, Sustainable Development Minister Cathy Cox said as she made the announcement. We encourage Manitobans to take the opportunity to enjoy all that our provincial parks have to offer. Late summer is the perfect time to enjoy cooler evenings, comfortable sleeping and the chance to create memories by the campfire. Park vehicle permits are not required in provincial parks from Friday, Sept. 2 to Monday, Sept. 5, however, regular camping fees and entrance fees to national parks will still apply. School teachers are also encouraged to organize curriculum-based outdoor learning experiences in natural and cultural environments. For details on interpretive programming, visit or ParkInterpretation@gov.mb.ca. Several provincial park campsites, cabins and yurts remain open through the fall, allowing campers to stay as late as Thanksgiving. To make a reservation, or see the full list of campgrounds open in the fall and their operating dates, call the Parks Reservation Service at or visit Province Welcomes Alamos Gold Plan to Begin Feasibility Study on Project Near Lynn Lake Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen today welcomed news that Canadian mining company Alamos Gold Inc. will soon begin work on a feasibility study at its Lynn Lake gold project. The decision by Alamos Gold Inc. to undertake a feasibility study of the geologic potential of their Lynn Lake project represents a significant step forward for this project and highlights the excellent opportunities that exist in Manitoba for expansion of the mining industry, said Cullen. Our government welcomes this commitment by Alamos and looks forward to continuing to develop our positive relationship with this and other interested mining corporations. A 2014 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) completed by Alamos s predecessor estimated an initial capital investment of $185 million in the Lynn Lake project would allow for average annual production of 145,000 ounces. That scale of production would generate annual revenues of approximately $250 million based on current gold prices, the minister said. Alamos feasibility study is expected to advance the analysis provided by the 2014 PEA and will result in an updated estimate of the project s potential costs and production volumes, the minister noted, adding Alamos expects the study to be completed by fall Feasibility studies provide a verifiable analysis of the economic potential of a mineral deposit and represent an important step toward mine development. Baseline environmental studies are already underway within the study area. Free Hug Free Hug Free Hug 10/10
