3 Resolution for Approval of the Year Master Plan & Funding Cycle Partnership Program Application WHEREAS WHEREAS WHEREAS BE IT RESOLVED the Benton Public School District School Board has reviewed and fully supports the School District s 6-Year Facilities Master Plan; and the Benton Public School District School Board understands that the Arkansas Division of Public School Academic Facilities & Transportation must approve said Master Plan; and the Benton Public School District School Board understands that when plans are approved the Division of Public Schools Academic Facilities and Transportation may, through the legislative appropriations, participate in the construction of academic facilities at the state computed wealth index as funded. that the Benton Public School District School Board supports and will dedicate local resources to meet the school district s share of financial participation in approved new construction projects listed on the 6-Year Master Plan as applied for under the Partnership Project Funding Program. 4 Benton Public Schools 2018 Facility Master Plan Narrative Grade Configuration The Benton School District currently has (4) K-4 Elementary Campuses, a 5-7 Middle School Campus, an 8-9 JHS Campus and a High School. The District received approval during 1719 Partnership cycle to move 7 th grade students from the middle school campus to the JHS, which will create a final configuration of: (4) K-4 Elementary campuses, a 5-6 Middle School, a 7-9 Jr. High School, and a High School. Enrollment Growth According to the enrollment projection summary posted on the Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation (Division) website, student enrollment over the next 10 years will increase from of 5,108 students in to 5,785 students by school year This increase is consistent with the historically high growth trends that the district is accustomed to, and it believed that growth in excess of the numbers reports could be experienced. In addition to an increase of school choice applicants, numerous developments are planned within the boundaries of the District which will result in additional growth. Currently under construction is Longhills Apartment Complex. This complex will contain approximately 600 units and serve as home to a projected 200 students. Other planned developments are a new shopping center at exit 114, a 1,200 residence subdivision at Exit 114 which will be completed in 3 phase, a residence housing subdivision rth of Highway 5, and duplexes near Ringgold. The Benton Public School District will continue to monitor enrollment data in order to plan for upcoming facility and staffing needs. Negative Depreciated Value Buildings Perrin ES Main Building (-22%) - this building is being maintained in an adequate manner through the use of school dude. The district is currently studying the need for additional dining / kitchen space at this location and a need is determined Partnership funding will be requested. Finkbiener Multi-Purpose Building (-4%) this building is being maintained in an adequate manner through the use of school dude. Construction Office (-36%) this is a non-academic facility and it is being maintained in an adequate manner. Dwelling (1711 Harmon Dr) (0%) this is a non-academic facility and it being maintained in an adequate manner. ALE (105 Cox St) (0%) this is a non-academic facility and it being maintained in an adequate manner. 4

5 Current and Future Projects The Benton Public School District is committed to the sustainability of our facilities and we plan to address our current and future growth and facility needs as follows: JHS Addition (PP# ): the district has been funded under the Partnership program to construct an addition onto the existing JHS building to accommodate for growth. This new classroom addition in currently in the design phase and will be approximately 16,000 SF in size. Relocate the Baseball Field (SF# ): the district will relocate the existing baseball field to make room for the 9 th grade expansion. The new field will be located at the Athletic Complex on Benton Parkway. This work is currently in the design phase. Middle School Cafeteria Expansion / Renovation (SF# ): the district will enclose the exterior breezeway at the cafeteria in order to expand the dining area to meet current enrollment standards. This work is currently underway. New Transportation Facility (SF# ): the district will turn the existing transportation building into district storage and construct a new facility at the Athletic Complex on Benton Parkway. This work is currently in the design phase. JHS Main Building Roof Replacement (PP# ): the district has received Preliminary Partnership approval for the 1719 cycle to replace the existing shingle roof on the JHS Main Building. The funding status of this project will be known on May 1, Canopies at the Middle School (SF# ): the district will construct additional canopies on the Middle School campus. 9 th Grade Expansion (PP# ): the district received preliminary Partnership approval during the 1719 cycle for phase 2 of the JHS addition, which will be used by 9 th grade students. It is anticipated that this new building will be approximately 50,000 GSF in size. The funding status for this project will be known on May 1, Band Addition (SF# ): the district will construct an addition onto the existing band building at the High School to accommodate for growth within the program. It is anticipate that approximately 3,000 GSF will be added to this facility. Cook Field House Conversion (PP# ): the district plans to convert Cook Field house into academic space for PE, Career Ed, and classrooms. Partnership funding will be requested during the 1921 application cycle, and the funding status for the project will be known on May 1, JHS Main Building Roof Replacement (PP# ): this duplicate project is being submitted as a precaution in case PP# is not funded. If funding is approved for the previously submitted project this application will be withdrawn. HS Cafeteria Addition / Renovation (PP# ): the district is evaluating the current available space in the cafeteria for adequacy according to enrollment. If it is found that these spaces are in need of an addition or renovations Partnership assistance will be requested. Angie Grant ES Cafeteria Addition / Renovation (PP# ): the district is evaluating the current cafeteria for adequacy according to enrollment and condition. If it is found that these spaces are in need of an addition or renovations Partnership assistance will be requested. Perrin ES Cafeteria Addition / Renovations (PP# ): the district is evaluating the current cafeteria for adequacy according to enrollment and condition. If it is found that these spaces are in need of an addition or renovations Partnership assistance will be requested New 600 Student Elementary School (PP# ): It is projected that the elementary schools will soon reach capacity. The district is monitoring projections and will submit a Partnership Project application for the construction of this new school when needed. High School CTE Addition (PP# ): the district plans to create a stand-alone facility for the expansion of career tech programs. Partnership funding will be requested for this new space project. 5

29 School Dude Maintenance & Preventative Work Order System Below are the processes used by Benton Public Schools for requesting and completing work orders within the School Dude Work Order System. Maintenance Work Order: Step 1: Teacher/Employee requests maintenance work to be completed by logging into School Dude systems and submitting their request. Step 2: The work order request goes to the Plant Manager who then approves and distributes to the Maintenance Staff for completion. Step 3: Once the work has been performed, the Plant Manager completes the Maintenance Work Order in the School Dude System. Preventative Work Order: Step 1: A Preventative Work Order is generated, according to the previously determined schedules which are set up in the School Dude system Step 2: The Preventative Work Order goes to the Plant Manager who then prints and distributes to the Maintenance Staff for completion. Step 3: Once the work has been performed, the Plant Manager completes the Preventative Maintenance Work Order in the School Dude System. 29
