2 Dear Friend, Thank you for signing up to host a drop-off location for the Young Friends of 90.7 WMFE ContinuED School Supply Drive, now in its second year. As a drive partner, your name/logo will be included on our wmfe.org/ supplydrive and on social media. The drive will provide vital supplies to students in need throughout the school year. We have partnered with A Gift For Teaching, which has distributed nearly $108 million worth of supplies to more than 300 schools since More than 70% (nearly 240,000) of the students in Central Florida come from families that can t afford lunch, let alone school supplies. More than 17,000 of these children are homeless. A Gift For Teaching serves 287 public schools in Orange and Osceola counties through free stores. And the need for supplies doesn t cease after the school year begins. That s why our drive doesn t stop in August we will continue throughout the school year, collecting at WMFE s studio, at community events and through community partners throughout Central Florida. 3 Instructions STEP 1: SET UP YOUR BOX Find a box to use cardboard, plastic, anything that can easily hold supplies and attach the sign on the next page. You can also decorate it with coworkers and friends to add a special touch! Place the box in a high-traffic area. STEP 2: SPREAD THE WORD Print out the flier on Page 5 and hand them out to your coworkers, friends and family. Leave them in the lobby. Use the promotional messaging on Page 6 in your and social media campaigns. STEP 3: KEEP A TALLY OF YOUR SUPPLIES 17K Students in Central Florida are homeless (A Gift For Teaching) Counting supplies is extremely helpful. Use the the tally sheet on Page 7. Financial and product donations to A Gift For Teaching are tax-deductible. Their Tax ID is STEP 4: DELIVER YOUR SUPPLIES Since this is a rolling program we are collecting throughout the school year there isn t a hard deadline to deliver your supplies. Once your box fills up, you can drop the supplies packed in boxes or sturdy bags by the station anytime Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or bring it along to a station event. Then, keep on collecting. We ll check in with you every month or so to see how it s going!
