5 ABOUT Community EUROPLANET Support Aims Workshops and Meetings Support & develop EPSC outreach sessions and meetings >> Special session on Danakil Depression outreach at EPSC 2017? Bring together outreach/engagement expert groups (e.g schools liaison officers, press officers, social media managers, policy offers ) to share best practice, brainstorm & develop new ideas for effective communication Hold training workshops to enhance the communication and engagement skills of scientists in the planetary community. >> 2018 or 2019 best practice/training event to include Ethiopian educators

6 ABOUT Community EUROPLANET Support Aims Sharing Resources Create a collection of peer-reviewed astronomy education activities astroedu open-access platform ( Planets and Moons collection online. Impacts collection in progress. Astrobiology and Exoplanets and Comparing planets to be compiled) >> Danakil-related resources that could be included? Translate the very best outreach and dissemination materials to reach a wider audience >> Not a big budget, but might help in translating key resource for Ethiopian audiences Create an evaluation toolkit for outreach and engagement activities, tailored for space and astronomy (collaboration with EU Space Awareness) >> Toolkit will be available to evaluate Danakil outreach activities

7 ABOUT EUROPLANET Community Support Funding Scheme (up to 15K Euros per round) 2016 funding awarded to Planet in a Room, Speak Science Project to develop a self-build kit for a science on a sphere exhibit for just 300 Euros. Free access to planetary data displays. >> Any Danakil data that would work in this format? Europlanet Prize 2016 Stéphane Le Mouélic and François Civet (4000 Euros Prize) Development of immersive Martian landscapes for the public using Virtual Reality techniques (Occulus Rift and Google Cardboard) and Mars Cave group exhibit. >> A VR exhibit to explore Danakil could be amazing, if funding could be found to develop it
