6 Federal Ministries & Ministries of the states Aim of IWRM (Integrated Water Resource Management) The objective of the funding measure is the successful technology and knowledge transfer in the field of sustainable water management in selected developing and emerging countries. An important contribution with regard to the Millennium Goals of the United Nations is made with the development of integrated planning instruments, the adaptation of water technologies to different climate, economic and societal conditions and the variety of options for vocational training. 18 KfW German Development Bank On behalf of the German Federal Government KfW finances programmes and projects that involve public sector players in developing countries and emerging economies from their conception and execution to monitoring their success. 19 DAAD University-Business-Partnership Aims to improve competitiveness developing countries Matching the capabilities of university graduates and the qualifications required by the industry Tries to avoid brain drain bridging the gap between university graduates and business communities German universities can apply to the DAAD for funding of their partnership. Over a maximum period of four years, they receive up to 100,000 euros per year. The participating universities and business are required to make a financial contribution. 19
