19 DAAD s Africa Strategy DAAD decided to develop a new strategic approach towards collaboration with the African continent to: Adapt to the rapid developments currently shaping the African HE landscape Act in a consistent and well-informed manner, serving the most pressing needs of the African HE institutions Enhance the cooperation and consultation with the African and international partners Maximise the impact of DAAD s work 19

Strengthening universities as effective actors in promoting societal development Good Practice Example 3: Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Management Activities (DIES) Dialogue Training Courses Partnerships Projects fosters the exchange on topics of higher education management and quality assurance equip university managers with skills for innovative higher education management facilitate cooperation between German universities and their partners in developing countries in order to set up efficient management structures support developing countries in the establishment of transnational quality assurance systems 23
