12 Dana Braccia, NEW!!! Texas Library Association Executive Director After an extensive national search, the Texas Library Association (TLA) appointed Dana Braccia as the new Executive Director starting October 1, Braccia brings a diverse range of experience and expertise in innovative library and operational management as well as member relations and industry partnerships to the association. Braccia has been an active leader in the library community since becoming a librarian in She is a pastpresident of the Mountain Plains Library Association and mentor for their Leadership Institute, as well as a former American Library Association councilor. She received her MLS from the University of Arizona and will complete her MBA from the W. P. Carey School of Business / Arizona State University with an emphasis in analytics and public policy this fall. Most recently, Braccia was vice -president of Library Operations for Library Systems and Services, where she partnered with city and county stakeholders to provide strategic oversight and library services management for over for 80 public libraries throughout the U.S. Braccia also has extensive experience in the private and public sectors having worked in government services, hospitality, major event management, retail, and banking with organizations including City of Scottsdale, Hilton International, San Francisco Giants, Citibank, Carefree Resorts, and Micronesia Mall. She is an ecourse instructor for the American Library Association as well as adjunct instructor in several Masters programs. >>

15 TLA Awards Over $100,000 in Disaster Relief Grants The Texas Library Association (TLA) announced that $102,600 from the organization s Disaster Relief Fund will be awarded to 25 libraries impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Grants range from $2,500 to $15,000 and can be used for technology, facility repair, collections, furnishings, or other needs related to storm damage. Academic, public, school and special libraries were eligible to receive assistance. We are so grateful for the tremendous support received from across the state and around the country, said Elizabeth Hensley (Aldine ISD), TLA Disaster Relief Committee chair. The library community s generosity made these grants possible, and while the need is great, we are pleased to be able to help our fellow librarians in this way. As of October 31, more than $160,130 has been donated to the TLA Disaster Relief Fund by 1100 individuals, organizations and corporations. TLA continues to accept donations which will be used to fund future grants. >>
