1 3 rd Forum April 20-22, 2010 Białowieża TRANSREGIONAL CO-OPERATION and EASTERN PARTNERSHIP NEW MATERIALS and PROCESSES HEALTH ICT ENERGY ENVIRONMENT BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT INSTITUTIONS Honorary Patronage: Minister of Science and Higher Education Minister of Regional Development Minister of Economy Polish Agency for Enterprise Development The Marshall of the Podlaskie Voivodeship The previous Forums Science and Technology Days Poland-East (October 17-19, 2007 and April 22-24, 2009 in Bialystok and Bialowieza) attended over 300 participants. They represented Polish and foreign universities, institutions of scientific research, companies, business environment institutions and also government and economic agencies. During the workshops and over 100 brokerage-event meetings Polish and foreign speakers especially from Poland, the Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia - delivered 200 concrete proposals of cooperation in new projects or common economic ventures. The 3 rd Forum Science and Technology Days Poland-East aims at expanding the international co-operation between EU countries and Eastern Countries, especially Ukraine and Belarus. The Forum is addressed to: - R&D centres and companies, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) interested in research and business co-operation - Partners interested in establishing common projects, especially within EUREKA Initiative and FP7 - innovative companies offering new technologies and innovative products - R&D and technology transfer centres offering business proposals for SMEs - companies looking for new technologies and innovative products The result of the Forum, as in previous years, will be undertaking special business ventures based on the transfer of new technologies and corporate solutions, and preparing common projects ideas concerning programmes which are presently in progress (including 7.PR, EUREKA, Regional and Cross Border Cooperation Programmes).

2 The Forum will host: 1. Opening session European Union goes East presenting new possibilities and aims for cooperation with Eastern Countries in frames of new European Union initiatives, especially in Eastern Partnership; cooperation: VINNOVA (Sweden) 2. Scientific and technological sessions on selected issues, concerning: ICT Energy Environment New Materials and Processes Health Transregional Co-operation Business Environment Institutions 3. Partnering Event aimed at genuine cooperation on selected issues and technology transfer. Partnering Event will consist of workshops, poster sessions and individual meetings, presenting possibilities of commercialisation of the solutions, as well as, possibilities of co-operation on new projects; cooperation: VINNOVA (Sweden), EUREKA Initiative. 4. Contest: particularly valuable presentations presented during poster sessions and workshops, will be given special awards and prizes 5. Exhibition where offers of cooperation of enterprises, R&D sector, business environment institutions and regions will be presented. The Forum provides a unique opportunity to: Undertake common projects and business ventures Find partners for further R&D cooperation Meet professionals from Eastern Europe who design and implement the latest ICT, Energy, Environment, New Materials and Processes and Health technologies. Establish and tighten contacts with teams and individuals from the industry and business community Find outlet for new technology and innovative solutions Implement innovations in the production process Meet new technology providers from Poland and abroad The Forum will take place at the Żubrówka Hotel in Bialowieza (April 20-22). Białowieża is located in the North-Eastern Poland, in the hearth of Białowieża Primeval Forest, which is also known as the Green Lungs of Poland. It is a unique place on the frontier of various cultures and religions, surrounded by the primeval nature. Żubrówka Hotel is situated at the outskirts of the Białowieża National Park the only naturalistic place in Poland which is mentioned in the UNESCO World Culture Inheritance List.

6 PRACTICAL INFORMATION LANGUAGE: the conference will be held in English. During the first sessions of the Forum English-Polish and Russian-Polish working interpreting is foreseen. REGISTRATION: Please return Registration Form and Preliminary Project/Business Proposal before March 30, 2010 Participation in the Forum is free of charge. The number of participants is limited. Participants are provided with: participation in all session conference materials coffee breaks and meals the catalog of 3rd Forum Science and Technology Days Poland-East post-conference materials Participants interested in the Forum are asked to send completed Registration form by e- mail to Persons who send completed Preliminary Project/Business Proposal will have priority to attend the conference. Organizers will confirm participation in the Forum till April 7. Registration form and Preliminary Project/Business Proposal are available on Forum website (only in English). PRESENTATIONS & POSTERS: Preliminary Project/Business Proposal should be send before March 30, Two forms of Project/ Business Proposal presentation are planed: as an electronic poster (invitation for all participants) and, as an oral presentation during the workshops. On the basis of the received forms The Organizers will select propositions to be presented during the workshops in oral form. Participants invited to deliver oral presentation will be informed about that before April 9. Presentation of Preliminary Project/Business Proposals We expect a 6-7 minute presentation, followed by a 2-3 minute discussion period. Please help us to facilitate discussion of your talk by observing the 10 minute presentation limit. We will provide an LCD projector and a PC laptop with a CD-ROM drive and USB drive. Posters The poster boards will be displayed at LCD screens (42 ), posters must be prepared in vertical layout. Additionally, please be sure to include the following information on your poster: Use already made template, which will be sent electronically to all interested participants (the poster box-important!!!) The Poster must include:

7 Title of Poster (85pt minimum) author's names (56pt minimum) name of institution contact data. Be sure that the typeface, font size, and colors used for the poster are legible and easy to read from a short distance (1-2 m); in order to make the poster legible the font should be not smaller than 40 ppt. The amount of the content should be in such size to have opportunity to read it within approximately 45 seconds. It is acceptable to post the graphics (photographs, drawings, diagrams, etc.) in the high quality (recommended 300dpi). Already finished poster should be saved as an MS PowerPoint presentation (precondition). We reserve the rights to edit the posters, with ensuring that it does not change its content. The posters will be exhibited from 20 th to 22 nd April. Information included in Preliminary Project/Business Proposal will be published in the conference materials. CONFERENCE VENUE: All sessions and workshops will be held in Hotel Żubrówka**** in Białowieża, 6, Olgi Gabiec Str. (registration from 15.00, 20 th April).
