Support the formation of new R&I Partnerships on behalf of FHSCE. Represent the interests of FHSCE within the university, promoting interdepartmental and inter-faculty collaboration. Develop collaborative research, contract research, knowledge transfer and consultancy opportunities. Help FHSCE Academic Staff and Department Heads achieve their objectives, including income-generation targets.
EU funding likely to drop dramatically after BREXIT The Research Excellence Framework rewards partnerships and collaborative research. Transparent and fair allocation of seed corn funding Success in income-generating partnerships may lead to increased chance of securing grants in future. Sustainable Development Goals:

Researchers should ensure that their research activities are made known to society at large in such a way that they can be understood by nonspecialists, thereby improving the public's understanding of science. Direct engagement with the public will help researchers to better understand public interest in priorities for science and technology and also the public's concerns. European Charter for Researchers
Work more effectively in interdisciplinary teams See your research in new contexts Develop the kind of approach necessary for engaging industry and charity partners Increase likelihood of your research leading to innovations used by society Feed findings to policymakers and decision makers through external partners with better access Become more visible and raise your profile, leading to further opportunities including grant funding
Success rate for grant funding applications is around 1 in 10, with considerable time dedicated to each bid or application. In a partnerships approach, especially if a long-term alliance is formed, you can fast-track to financial support for your research. After Seed Corn Funding granted to winners of Dragon s Den in each category, Partnership Development Manager will provide full support, leaving you free to conduct your contract research, develop your innovative product or training OR plan your consultancy work.

The proposed product is a mobile app to provide real time support for Early Years educators who may need to access practical guidance and information on best educational practices in Early Childhood Education. The app will include illustrated step-by-step instructions on pediatric first aid, special educational needs, tried and tested activities to engage children in learning activities across a wide spectrum of topics and learning objectives. The default content of the app will be complemented by institutional information which the partner organization can easily tailor to their own reality using an admin login, inputting contact details, rules and regulations, timetables, CPD calendar and other local information. In this way, the staff will benefit from a one stop shop app, available on the Apple Store and Google Play. The cost of development of the app is estimated to be and if admin access is sold online to partner nursery schools, primary schools, trusts and foundations, as well as, potentially, Local Education Authorities, at 100 per year per license/school, sale of only 200 licenses would cover the initial investment and any licenses sold subsequently would generate profit after deduction of maintenance costs for the online platform. Default content will be supplied to all EY Educators who download the app free of charge (independent of adoption of a license by their place of work) and will be researched and written by Anglia Ruskin staff in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, in accordance with current best educational and healthcare practices and beliefs.
The proposed consultancy work seeks to improve the quality and effectiveness of care provision in a nursing home, including best practices in dealing with dementia and promotion of a positive ageing approach to mental health. Due to demographic change and increasing pressure on human and financial resources in the sector, there is a need for organizational change to improve efficiency of care and increase well-being of older patients in full-time care. Ideal partners for this consultancy are nursing home owners & managers, trusts and associations of social care workers. The consultant will visit each partner institution (the client) and observe current praxis, interview staff and patients as well as family-members, where possible, always observing the strictest standards of research ethics. Initially, the client will complete a questionnaire with the necessary information on members of staff, patients, facilities, main challenges and any other relevant data. During the observations and interviews phase, the consultant will acquire qualitative and quantitative data on which to base recommendations and prepare any training materials considered necessary. After identification of how processes and practices can be improved, particularly with regard to increasing quality of life for older patients, F2F training in the form of a workshop for staff will be provided and up to 30 days later, a comprehensive report will be produced which details suggested improvements and next steps. The duration of the consultancy can be adapted to budget availability, but it is expected that the whole process from initial scoping surveys to delivery of final report will take place in under 3 months. The cost of this consultancy is expected to be 10,000, representing approximately 10 days of work for the researcher with a margin to cover admin costs. After the consultancy work is completed, the client will complete an evaluation, providing feedback on the experience and perceived benefits of the consultancy.
