2 MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR GENERAL Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi Director General Characterized by unprecedented developments in artificial intelligence, genetics, robotics and disruptive business models to name few, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is with no doubt leading us into a period of great transformations. At ACTVET we passionately believe that in order for us to reap the advantages of this phase and turn its challenges into opportunities, our mission is to avail to our young people and labour force an innovative TVET system that is built on promoting long-term, inclusive and right- based solutions. Our experience has confirmed to us, time and time again, that the Return on Investment (ROI) in TVET transcends the economic benefits to social, community and environmental benefits. Therefore, we continue to innovate our system by staying abreast of scientific and technological revolutions, investing in research and knowledge- generation and recognizing the importance of collaborations especially with the labor market. TVET Innovation Week - our annual event - is a fast- growing platform that fosters the development of evidence- based policies in TVET and encourages cooperation. This unique event brings together experts, industry leaders, government officials, policymakers, researchers, students and educators to exchange ideas and expertise on a range of critically important themes in the various fields that make up TVET in the 21st Century. The comprehensive event, which is being implemented for the 4th consecutive year, is closely aligned with the national agenda where investing in developing a diversified and sustainable economy is a key pillar. During the 2018 edition, numerous activities and events will stretch throughout all TVET institutes across the seven Emirates including forums, workshops, exhibitions and exploration activities focusing on this year s theme which is Innovative TVET: Our Readiness to Lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Partnerships and collaborations are essential in ensuring the relevance of TVET and supporting its sustainability. Investing in strengthening this sector is a national priority, this is why I call upon the support of all stakeholders to support this important event.

3 ABOUT ACTVET The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) was established in 2010 by the directive of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council. ACTVET is committed to establishing policies and standards that effectively regulate technical and vocational educational institutions in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. ACTVET is also responsible for the licensing of trainers and tutors that meet the demands of the UAE s local market. The Centre aims to boost training and educational opportunities for young nationals within the qualification framework of the Emirate. ACTVET s ultimate goal is increasing the number of skilled Emirati youths in rewarding career paths and foster life-long learning and personal development. ACTVET oversees a number of entities that provide accredited educational and vocational training programs, in line with the best international standards, to prepare students for the labor market. The entities consist of the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI) and the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT).

4 WHAT IS TVET INNOVATION WEEK? FRAMEWORK TVET Innovation Week is a national platform that brings together experts, industry representatives, government leaders, entrepreneurs, policy-makers, researchers, students and educators to exchange ideas and expertise on a range of critically important themes in the various fields that make up Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the 21st Century. The event aims also at informing prospective students about the advances in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the benefits of enrolling in this type of education. 9 TVET INNOVATION EXHIBITION This specialized Innovation Exhibition acts as a platform for showcasing innovation in the field of TVET. The exhibition that was introduced in 2017 was very successful in demonstrating the talents of our young people and in encouraging others to be innovative themselves. Moreover, the exhibition has also succeeded in attracting a huge number of attendees especially from the industry sector that were keen to explore the caliber of the students. The process of selecting the showcased projects was very competitive and resulted in the following projects: BENTHIC MICROBIAL FUEL CELL Our project is unique and innovative in using bacteria from food left overs instead of bacteria from stream samples to generate clean energy. Moreover, our project contributes to achieving a better waste management strategy. Team Members: Alya Al Abdouli, Huda Al Hashimi, Noura Al Qaseer BIOLOGY WITH TECHNOLOGY Growing Crops Without Soil This is an innovative solution to grow crops without soil optimizing space, cost, and crop yield. Team Members: Abdulrahman Rashed, Mohammed Rashed, Saif Ahmed BULLET RESISTANCE TIRE FOR MILITARY PURPOSES By inserting multi tubes, a value is added to the operation of the tire allowing for a safer transport of ammunition, and VIP people in the time of the war. The tire will allow the vehicle to go 10 km further in safe mode in case of being hit by enemy gunfire. Team Members: Mohamed Mohamed, Saeed Al Mheiri, Abdalla Al Naqabi HIGHWAY WIND TURBINES FOR ELECTRICITY GENERATION The project offers an innovative way to take advantage of a wasted source of energy to generate electricity. This would add value in remote areas, areas of dire need of power such as locations affected by natural disasters where power lines might have been destroyed. Team members: Yousif Al Raeesi, Omran Al Ansari, Ammar Al Ansari I AM DEAF BUT I CAN WORK The project provides an innovative solution that adds value to the lives of mute persons allowing them to be productive in the work environment supporting themselves and their families. MINECOPTER Innovator Sarah Al Qaseer This project combines several existing methods in a unique and innovative way resulting in a safer, cheaper, more intelligent, and a more accurate product than some of its counterparts. LPG LEAKAGE DETECTOR Innovator Saif Al Hammadi The objective of our system is to detect a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) leakage and to subsequently initiate a number of precautionary measures to mitigate the situation. Team Members: Hamed Al Meqbaali, Hareb Al Marbooie SELF-OPERATED WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM We designed and implemented an environmental friendly system that uses the sun as the energy source to pump water from the ground and provide it uncontaminated to the wild and domestic animals to drink." WEARABLE TELEMEDICAL SUIT Team Members: Rashed Al Dahmani, Mohammed Al Beqaishi) Our project provides an innovative solution to monitor the vital signs of patients remotely either at their home or located at remote sites. The suit uses a wifi router to allow sending the readings without need for a wireless connection. Team Members: Manea Al Hosani, Omeer Al Marzouqi, Ibrahim Al Bloushi SMART TOOTHBRUSH FOR DISABLED The toothbrush has a mechanism for self-brushing and consists of a motor, a sound sensor, and a controller. Whenever the sound sensor detects the presence of a person, the controller activates the toothbrush in a linear motion. 10 TVET INNOVATION WORKSHOPS DISCOVERY EXPERIENCE Teaching and learning in the 21st Century can no longer be a traditional experience of sit and get. Teachers as well as students must strive to creatively employ technology tools to access, evaluate, synthesize, and communicate information. The workshops aim at building the capabilities of TVET practitioners and students and at providing a platform for exchanging hands on experiences and practical tools. During the 2017 edition, two interactive workshops took place aiming at introducing the latest technologies in education. The workshops that were conducted were the following: BEYOND THE CLASSROOM WALLS/THE WORLD IS MY CLASSROOM ALL IN ONE: THE FULL INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY INTO LEARNING The participants of the workshops highly appreciated the workshops and commented on their relevance by saying : This was a great learning experience for me as I was talking to an expert who could give them firsthand information about the latest technology in this field Fatma/Teacher The Discovery Experience comprises of a number of events that include open-days, mini-expos, workshops and seminars for prospective students to gain exceptional insights about new TVET programs and careers. SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT 2 Obligations of ACTVET ACTVET agrees that in return for the sponsorship payment made by the Sponsor it grants the Sponsor the promotional benefits set out in Sponsorship Kit. ACTVET shall use the Sponsor s logo and name for the sole purpose of the performance of the present Agreement. Where previously notified as being required by the Sponsor, ACTVET will obtain the Sponsor s prior written approval before using any material intended to incorporate the Sponsor s logo and name. 3 Payment The Sponsor shall pay the amount(s) detailed in the Commitment Form within 30 days of receipt of the ACTVET invoice following signature of the Commitment Form. All the bank charges must be prepaid by the Sponsor. Once the bank transfer has been made, kindly send us a copy of the bank transfer to ACTVET by (rajiv.datar@actvet.ac.ae) before the payment due date. PREAMBLE This sponsorship agreement (hereinafter the Agreement ) records the mutual understanding of the Sponsor and ACTVET in connection with the TVET Innovation Week 2018 that will be held in All over UAE from 10th to 16th of January 2018 (the Event ) within this contractual relationship. 1 Obligations of the Sponsor The Sponsor agrees to procure a Sponsorship package, the details, cost of and payment terms for which are specified in Sponsorship Kit and Commitment Form. The Sponsor authorizes ACTVET to use its trademarks, logos or other intellectual property rights of similar nature in the Event s advertising, promotional and marketing materials and website. The Sponsor undertakes to send to ACTVET all the advertising and promotional materials to be included in and distributed at the Event not later than 15 calendar days before the Event. The Sponsor expressly acknowledges and accepts that this Agreement does not grant the Sponsor exclusive sponsorship rights save as detailed by the category of sponsorship purchased. 4 Liability The Sponsor and ACTVET agree that the Sponsor will not be involved in the organization and performance of the Event. Therefore the Sponsor shall have no liability towards participants, visitors and suppliers, except to the extent of its negligence or willful misconduct. 5 Cancellation of the Event In the event of cancellation of the Event for any reason, including force majeure, ACTVET shall reimburse the Sponsor s contribution, less the expenses incurred by ACTVET, if any, within fifteen (15) days from receipt of corresponding notice from the Sponsor by registered mail. This will be ACTVET sole liability to the Sponsor in respect of such cancellation. 6 Confidentiality The Sponsor and ACTVET shall not disclose the details of this Agreement to any third party. This obligation shall continue for a period of two (2) years after the expiry of this Agreement. This obligation does not apply to information lawfully already in the public domain, or which becomes part of the public domain without the fault of the recipient; or which is required to be disclosed by law; or becomes available to the recipient from a third party which is lawfully in possession of that information and who has the lawful right to disclose such information to the recipient on a nonconfidential basis; or was lawfully known by the recipient (as shown by its written record) prior to the date of its disclosure by the disclosing party.

17 7 Contract Duration This Agreement shall be effective upon its signature by the Parties and shall expire at the end of the Event as specified in the Preamble here above. 8 General Provisions If any provision of this Agreement is or becomes wholly or partially invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. The Sponsor and ACTVET shall replace the invalid provision with a valid provision that best reflects their intention. The same shall apply if provisions have been omitted. The applicable law is the law of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Federal Laws of the United Arab Emirates. In case of dispute, it shall be resolved by the relevant courts of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The undersigned hereby accepts the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement and undertakes to return it duly filled in and signed to the Organizer, by to sponsorship@emiratesskills.ae and return the original duly filled in and signed document by post to the attention of TVET Innovation Week Secretariat at ACTVET, P.
