2 45 th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner 2018 We currently have opportunities for companies to help deliver our Annual Conference 2018, consisting of: COBCOE Conference 8 October late afternoon/early evening COBCOE Awards Dinner and Dance 9 October evening This document set out the opportunities for and details of the Conference and Awards Dinner on 8 and 9 October, both of which will attract significant interest. Who will attend the events? Business leaders from around Europe, representing a broad range of service providers and industrial sectors, some of whom may be partners or supporters of COBCOE Board members and senior staff of international chambers of commerce, business associations and professional associations Dignitaries, diplomats and government officials involved with international trade Overview of benefits of COBCOE event sponsorship A simple and cost-effective way to meet commercial objectives regarding positioning, brand alignment, exposure and generating goodwill. 3 Trade Conference This year s Trade Conference will be held on Monday 8 October, 17:30-20:30 Introduction and content Following the EU referendum vote we have experienced a renewed interest in developing deeper trade and investment links with the 53 countries in the Commonwealth. According to the Commonwealth Secretariat in a recently published trade report, countries in the Commonwealth can do a lot more to expand their business activities with the UK and Brexit can clearly act as a catalyst for this renewed strategy. Indeed, the UK government is proactively seeking to agree trade agreements with Commonwealth markets and has pinned a great deal of hope on the success of these negotiations in truly developing its Global Britain initiative. There is no doubt that the Commonwealth can offer a real value proposition for international trade and business development. Many large, well-known international brands are already benefitting from their expansion into the region as are several major country players. Our event will explore how the UK can reconnect with the Commonwealth in its future trade policy and be a valuable link between Europe and the region. What opportunities are evolving in the region and how technology, innovation and AI can create jobs and increase productivity enabling the region to become a real force for global investment and trade. It is a rare opportunity for the organisations in our international network to get together, and it is a celebration of their achievements. This year s Awards Dinner will be held on Tuesday 9 October at The Brewery, 52 Chiswell Street, London EC1Y 4SD 18:45 - Late Our Guest speaker: Miriam González Durántez, Partner, Dechert LLP Co-Chair, International Trade and Government Regulation practice, focusing on international and EU trade law policy Founder and Chair of Inspiring Girls, a charity dedicated to raising the aspirations of young girls around world by connecting school girls and female role models. About the COBCOE Awards The COBCOE Awards celebrate success across our network. There are three categories of award: Chamber of the Year Awards to recognise the dedication and talent of the teams working in our member chambers across Europe International Trade Award to recognise the success of companies belonging to our member network that are making great strides in developing their business internationally (NEW) COBCOE Connects Award this year launches the TIAO award which will recognise the most active company within the COBCOE Connects platform. 5 The Chamber of the Year Awards consist of two overall awards Chamber of the Year and Best Small Chamber. There is also a series of awards for the key areas of chambers operations, including events management, membership development and trade development, among others.
