We hope you get to watch a beautiful sunset or sunrise this week! While you are taking in the scene, consider snapping a picture. Send your photo to us by the 15th of each month for an opportunity to have it displayed in our lobby! Every photo will be posted on Facebook, and at the end of the year, our followers will vote on their favorite. The winner takes home a $50 Visa gift card! 3 COLLINS DENTAL SCHOLARSHIP IT'S NOT TOO LATE High School Seniors who have an interest in pursuing careers in the dental or medical field should fill out an application and submit a 750 word or less essay that describes what influenced their decision to choose a medical or dental profession, why living a life dedicated to service is important, and why they should be chosen for the scholarship. One student from each qualifying high school will be rewarded with a $1,000 scholarship. The submission deadline is March 20, Please submit your application at Winners will be informed by , and their names will be posted to our Facebook page. Winners will pick up their award at our office. Must be a high school senior actively enrolled in good standing at Lake Howell High School, Oviedo High School, or Winter Springs High School Must have expressed interest in pursuing a career in the medical or dental field Must have at least a 3.5 GPA Must possess leadership qualities and be dedicated to community service Students' names and photos will be shared on our social media pages, as well as our website, and displayed in our office. 4 Mardi Gras Mardi Gras refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three King's Day) and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is french for "Fat Tuesday", reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual of fasting of the lenten season. The true meaning of the Mardi Gras beads starts with the colors. King Rex, Russia's Grand Duke Alexis Romanoff, declared the royal colors of this celebration: purple for justice, green for faith, and gold for power. Mardi Gras beads are thrown to bring the recipients good luck for the upcoming year. We love celebrating Mardi Gras because it's one of Dr Collins' favorites! Dr Collins graduated from LSU's School of Dentistry in New Orleans, in 1998, so New Orleans holds a special place in his heart. Page 4

6 DENTISTRY IN FILM We love seeing positive portrayals of oral health care in movies. Snuggle Your Pet Contest We love seeing our patients pets snuggling with their Collins Dental Pet Blankets! Show us your pet in a blanket for a chance to win! To submit your photo, you can post a picture in the comments of our dog blanket Facebook post or you can send your picture to our Facebook Messenger. The Collins Dental logo must be showing in the picture to qualify. After the submission deadline is over, there will be two pets chosen by our staff to compete for the title of best dressed pet! We will be asking you to vote for your favorite by commenting on the subsequent Facebook post. The pet with the most comments on that post will win a $50 Pet Smart Giftcard! One of our favorites is Disney's Finding Nemo! In the movie, Nemo tries to escape from inside a fish tank that's sitting in the dentist's office. Following the view of the dentist's office is the scene where Darla comes in ecstatically for her visit! Barbara: Darla, your uncle will see you now. Dentist: All right, let's see those pearly whites. Darla: RAAAH! I'm a piranha. They're in the Amazon. Dentist: And a piranha's a fish, just like your present. Don t be afraid to get creative and have fun. Animals of any kind are accepted, and the blanket may be worn in any fashion, as long as the Collins Dental Logo is showing. 7 SPRING INTO OUR REFERRAL RAFFLE This is the last month to be entered into our First Quarter raffle to win the Spring Cleaning Set! Refer an adult (over the age of 18) to be entered into the raffle. The last day for an adult to claim you as their referral source is March 31st! The best compliment you can pay us is the referral of a friend.
