1 April 29, 2016 Calendar of Events May 2 6 May 3 May 5 May 6 AP Exams Spring Concert 7pm Academic Awards 7pm Senior Prom Senior Parents: Deadline Approaching for Graduation Ticket Requests The deadline to request additional tickets and/or special seating accommodations for graduation is May 13. We reviewed the seating layout with your daughters at a class meeting this past week. First consideration for additional seating will be given to requests made prior to the deadline. Requests should be directed to Ms. Joanne Schrader (jschrader@ursulineacademy.org). Sixth & Seventh Grade Movie Night at Ursuline Academy On Friday, May 13 th, from 6-8:30pm, sixth and seventh grade girls are invited to a movie night in Ursuline Academy s Besl Theater. We will be showing Disney Pixar s Inside Out, playing games, and teaching UA cheers. Popcorn and snacks will be provided. UAU members (student ambassadors) will be working the event, but we could use more help that evening. If your daughter would like to work the event, please have her Molly McClarnon at mmcclarnon@ursulineacademy.org. Guidance Department News Advanced Placement (AP) exams will be administered at UA May At this time, 238 students have registered to take 532 AP exams. Students who earn a 3, 4 or 5 out of a possible score of 5 may earn college credit for this coursework. The amount of credit awarded is determined by the college. Most students earn between 6 and 8 college credits for each AP course. The AP exam calendar, listing when each AP exam will be administered, is on the home page of the UA website. Students can find the AP credit policies at specific colleges/universities online by visiting: Information regarding summer school courses from various local high schools has been arriving at the guidance office. Interested students should see their counselors to inquire about such courses. All juniors have been advised to take both the ACT and the SAT I Reasoning Test by the end of junior year. There will be time for retakes in the fall should some students desire to do so. Some juniors may also need to take the SAT II-Subject Tests by the end of the school year.
2 The remaining college admission test dates for this school year are: Test TEST DATE REGISTRATION POSTMARK DEADLINE ACT June 11 May 6 SAT I/II June 4 May 5 Important Information from the Nurse s Office I wanted to inform you of a change in the required vaccinations for the school year. I ve attached a link below so you can review the new requirements. The change that applies to our students is that all 12 th graders must receive the Meningitis vaccine before the start of the school year. Many of our students received the vaccine when they were around the age of 12. At that time, the vaccine was not required, but was voluntary. If the vaccine was given at a younger age, a booster is now required after the 16 th birthday. If the vaccine was NOT given, then only one vaccine is required after the 16 th birthday. I ve included an excerpt below from the ODH letter that pertains to this. For those of you with Juniors rising to Seniors, please schedule an appointment with your daughter s physician to obtain the vaccine. For Sophomores rising to Juniors, you will want to take care of this after the student s 16 th birthday. Please send in documentation with the date the vaccine was given. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call me. Thanks much! Cindy Broderick, RN BSN School Nurse, Ursuline Academy Ext 1105 From the Billing Office A reminder that all Report Cards and Transcripts will be held for accounts past due at the end of the grading period.
