FLEA MARKET 2019 Yes, we are once again having our annual Flea Market but we have changed the date next year from the first weekend in March to the last weekend in February February 22-24.

Thanks to Connie for a job well done, and best wishes to Penny! FLEA MARKET 2019 Yes, we are once again having our annual Flea Market but we have changed the date next year from the first weekend in March to the last weekend in February February So, this means that you need to start now cleaning out your closets, drawers, cupboards, basements, garages, and attics and donate to the Club. We also accept donations from friends, family and neighbors! Just have them drop off their treasures in the front lobby. We accept donations all year long. Sorry, but we are unable to give tax credits because of our 501(c)(4) tax status. The Flea Market is the Club s biggest fundraiser, and we can t do it without member support and donations! For those of you who need assistance, we will arrange pick-up of your donations. Please contact Linda Atkins at (atkins.linda@att.net / (734) ) or Barbara Kramer at (bckramer6178@att.net / (734) ). Linda Atkins and Barbara Kramer, Co-chairs Finance Committee Report Our new fiscal year is underway, and the FY2018 financial summaries are completed, pending review by our CPA. Although Food & Beverage Sales were disappointing, Operations produced a net Income surplus of $30,857, better than budget by $29,550 and the end of year projection presented at the May annual meeting. As in past years, staff continued to do a tremendous job delivering a quality product and controlling expenses. Way Forward donations exceeded the $80,000 request, and we again did not draw on the line-of-credit. Cash at the end of April exceeded previous years. Significantly, membership numbers grew for the first time in five years. FY2019 event bookings are better than past years, and we are looking forward to a strong FY2019 for the City Club. 3 2018 Classic Car Show A little rain may have caused some owners to keep their cars in their garages, but it couldn t dampen the spirits of those who were part of the Club s 10th Annual Classics at the City Club! Thanks to all who helped make this great community event possible, and to everyone who attended! Evening Book Discussion Group The Evening Book Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. The selection for June is A Town Like Alice by Neville Shute. Touted as the author s most beloved novel, a tale of love and war, following the enterprising young English heroine from the Malayan jungle during World War II to the Australian outback. Our group meets in The Pub for dinner and a lively discussion about the book. Reservations for dinner are requested. If you find that you are free on short notice---we would be delighted to have you join us. Just let us know, so we can plan enough seats and staff for dinner. The dates are Tuesdays-Fridays, June 8-July 1, 2018. We ll find a night when we can go as a team and compete for some prizes for most donations collected.

I hope in sharing my bird series, as well as some waterscapes, viewers will appreciate the beauty I've found in our fine, feathered, friends.

Also, there is an opportunity to recycle your E-Waste on Saturday, June 16, 11am-3pm at St. Francis School, located near the corner of East Stadium Blvd.

As an avid traveler, I've been fortunate to have had many opportunities to explore the natural world, and in doing so, encountering many lovely, feathered, creatures. I've been most inspired by the layered, texturing of bird's feathers and I ve attempted to capture their colorful form, shape, and shadows in my artwork. I hope in sharing my bird series, as well as some waterscapes, viewers will appreciate the beauty I've found in our fine, feathered, friends. For those of you who may not have made it to the Annual Meeting this year to know, our award recipient is Summer Camp Scholarships, an organization that will provide two weeks of camp (as well as two sleeping bags) for needy youngsters thanks to our gift of $1,000.
