I have enjoyed serving as your Governor for the last two years. I have worked very hard to keep things running smoothly and make important changes and improvements here at our lodge home. Nothing that was accomplished could have been done without the support of my board of officers, the WOTM Chapter #1133, the volunteers, the employees and the entire membership. All of these people work hard and give up many hours of their free personal time to make this lodge great! I d like to thank our current Administrator, Bruce Helberg Jr. and our office worker, Randy Moye, for keeping our business and the bar operating daily. I hope that all men in good standing membership status will be active in the nomination and election process for our next Governor and board of officers. The election date and times are included on the calendar of this newsletter. Please be involved and vote. Installation of new officers will be April 24th. I hope to see you there. Please see the calendar and come out to support our meals and events. Remember to check your membership expiration date and renew in time to receive your new card before your old one expires. Always have your up-to-date membership card with you. I d like to thank Vera Lightfoot for running the Chili Cook-off last month. Also, Vera continues to do a great job with this newsletter. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Governor. I gave it my all. I learned that you can t please everyone and I want you to know that I did everything with the best interest of the lodge in mind. I will remain involved as your Jr. Past Governor, but look forward to having less responsibility at the lodge and more free time with my family. Thank you to everyone that helped and supported me. Thanks to all the Officers and Chairman that worked hard for me this year, it is greatly appreciated. We couldn t have had such a wonderful year without all of you. Congratulations to all the winners in the chili cook-off. Thanks to all the judges and people that came out and supported the event. We had a good turnout for the children s Easter Party. I would like to thank the Easter Bunny for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and visit us again this year. Thanks to everyone that donated hard boiled colored eggs and candy. As we approach the end of our fiscal year, I would like to remind everyone that you can still accrue points through Moose International by signing on new members, renewing dues, donating to Moose Charities, plus many other items. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat inside of bundt pan with cooking spray 2. Place warm water, onion soup mix and dry stuffing mix in a bowl. Mix well. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow bread time to absorb water. 3. Add eggs and ground beef. Mix well. Best to get it blended by using your hands and incorporating it all together. 4. Place evenly into bundt pan. You can also put into muffin tins to make individual loafs. 5. Bake 1 hour or until no longer pink inside. 6. Remove and allow to rest 5 minutes before cutting into. BLUEBERRY CRUMB BARS Crumb bars loaded in the middle with fresh blueberries INGREDIENTS For the Crumb 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes 1 egg For the Blueberry filling: 4 cups fresh blueberries 1/2 cup granulated sugar 4 teaspoons cornstarch Juice of one lemon DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. 2. Make the Crumb: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Use a fork or pastry cutter to blend in the butter, and then the egg (the dough will be crumbly). Press half of dough into the prepared pan. 3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice. Gently fold in the blueberries to coat evenly with the sugar mixture. Spread the blueberry mixture evenly over the crust, drizzling any excess juice in the bowl over the filling. Crumble the remaining dough evenly over the blueberry layer. 4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is light golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into squares. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Page 4 Page 9

5 MOOSE ON THE LOOSE I know in this house there is a pet moose; he slept in my room, but then he got loose. I carefully checked all of my drawers and looked under rugs on all of the floors, emptied my pockets, and looked in the sink, hoping that maybe he stopped for a drink. He s not in my bed or watching TV; I don t understand - oh, where did he flee? I can t tract him down, I ve had no success; this whole situation is causing me stress. I d call a detective, but would that be wise? He d think I was foolish, losing something that size.
