3 Dr. Jessica Black Dr. Jessica Black is a Gwich in Athabascan from the villages of Gwich yaa Zhee [Ft. Yukon] and Toghotthele [Nenana], Alaska. In her current job as Assistant Professor for the Department of Alaska Native Studies and Rural Development and Tribal Management at UAF Jessica teaches, co-leads several research projects, and serves her Alaska Native community in various ways. She currently serves on the Fairbanks Native Association Board of Directors as well as the Tanana Chiefs Conference Health Board. Outside of work and community responsibilities Jessica enjoys learning and spending time with elders, culture bearers, and language warriors. Julia Fisher-Salmon Julia Fisher-Salmon is a 20 year-old emerging leader from Beaver and Chalkyitsik. She is currently attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she is majoring in Criminal Justice. She is also working towards achieving her Associate s Degree in Tribal Management. She is currently working in Washington, D.C. as an intern for Congressman Don Young. Julia sits on the TCC Emerging Leaders Youth Advisory Council as the Treasurer.
