Can you believe that the 149th Wisconsin Valley Fair is just around the corner? The summer seems to be moving faster with each flip of the calendar page. Lucky for us, there is still fun to be had in the summer of 2017! OPPORTUNITY - The Marathon 4-H Leaders Federation is chartering a Wisconsin State Fair Bus Trip on Friday, August 11th! Please see page 2 for details and sign-up information. Sign up and payment is due by Monday, August 7th. Please call the office with questions. The Wisconsin Valley Fair is HERE! Please remember, the fair is a wonderful time to show off the learning and hard work you ve done through the entire year. Be proud of your accomplishments, regardless of ribbon-color that may be awarded to your projects. Share your knowledge with club members as well as those who are not in 4-H or FFA. For many folks, the county fair is the one time each year to have hands-on contact with animals. Be patient; the fair is typically a hot and stressful week for many involved. Youth - please be patient with your friends, as well as your parents and leaders. Parents and Leaders, have a few extra minutes and moments of empathy for youth. The fair is a place that we learn how to win and lose gracefully. If you have any issues or questions, please come visit our staff in the Junior Fair Office, located in the Youth Building/East Gate Hall. We are more than happy to help. We will be open on Monday, July 31st from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. See you soon! Megan Suehring Marathon County 4-H Youth Development Program Advisor

3 PARKING AT THE FAIR Please pay careful attention to your passes at the fair. Unloading passes are not the same as parking passes. Check to see WHERE your parking pass is allowing you to park. Do not make up new or creative parking spaces. If the fair decides to tow vehicles that are parked in an incorrect area or an area that is not covered on the pass, it is your responsibility to get your vehicle back. Looking for non-fair food at the fair? Enjoy a delicious meal at UW-MC. Lunch and supper includes salad bar. Best deal: 5 tickets for $35, or $7.50 per meal. Buy tickets at the Junior Fair Office Desk, located in the Youth Building/ East Gate Hall. Reminder: This deal is only for Marathon 4-H members and leaders, not for general public. Bringing Food to eat at the Fair? All Wisconsin Valley Fair Exhibitors signed a code of conduct which stated, Exhibitors and their families/guardians will: Refrain from eating or drinking in the barns (only bottled water may be consumed in the barns.) Exhibitors and their family members violating the rules are subject to consequences listed in the code of conduct. They are not pleasant. If you wish to bring food to eat, please eat it outside of the barns. If you have nescoes or crock pots that need an electricity source, let s make a safe plan; we have a small kitchen area in the Youth Building. DO NOT BRING THESE INTO THE BARNS. Please contact Megan Suehring if you have questions. DO NOT FORGET YOUR ENTRY STUBS ON SUNDAY!! In order to reclaim your fair exhibits (non-animal), you will need to retain the entry ticket stubs from your entry tags. Please put these in a safe place. You will need the stubs in order to check-out all of your projects. If you have many projects, please consider bringing a basket, tote, or wagon to carry your projects in. Sunday evening check-out begins at 5 p.m. You may not take your projects before this. This is a BUSY and STRESSFUL time for everyone. Please bring extra patience. Do not expect to be out the door in short order. Oh no! I forgot to pick up my prizewinning project! What do I do? Do not panic. The Junior Fair Building will be open on Monday morning for late-goers to pick up their exhibits. We may call if we find yours. DO NOT WAIT FOR A WEEK TO CONTACT US ABOUT PICKING UP A FORGOTTEN ITEM. REMINDER: It is your responsibility to pick up projects in a timely fashion. Do not expect us to hold items for long periods of time.
