Amplified finished Second Runner-Up in the Uni-Sex Division and received a Silver Medal for their performance. They also won the These Girls Really Had Fun Judge s Award. Electrify received a Silver Medal for their performance and earned a Judges Award for Outstanding Family Unit. Congratulations to the choirs and the band. Their next competition will be the Eastern Massachusetts Show Choir Classic on April 7 th at Waltham High School. Good Luck to you all! WINTER SHEPHERD HILL NESBA COMPETITION 3/25/18: A huge congratulation to our Winter Percussion Ensemble and Winter Color Guard for an outstanding two regular season ending performances at Shepherd Hill Regional High School on Sunday! Percussion placed 3 rd at the show with an and the Guard finished in 1 st place in their division with a score of Up next will be Winter Color Guard Finals on Saturday, March 31 at Salem (MA) High School and then Winter Percussion Finals on Saturday, April 7 at Dartmouth High School. Don t forget to see them, as well as the Winter Hornline, perform at the Spring Pop s Night Concert on Wednesday, April 4 here at SBRHS as well! Go Blue Raiders!!! #Writer sblock #LookingUp #Unknown APRIL CALENDAR RAFFLE FUNDRAISER: The Somerset Friends of Music is in need of your help. They do a much in supporting the music department by volunteering to plan and work at all our events, as well as provide much needed financial assistance. They contribute to everything from supplementing equipment, supply, and transportation budgets to helping provide scholarships to music department seniors that are making their way into their college careers. We began to hand out the April Calendar Raffle Fundraiser last week and today will be the first day of S-block where all our students will have the opportunity to obtain the raffle fundraiser. Time is limited. These will be due back on Thursday 3/29 and winners will be picked for the month of April. There are tons of great prizes, all of $25 in value and greater. Additionally, you have 30 chances to win and can win multiple times as winners are re-entered into the drawing each day! Each calendar is $10 and checks can be written to the Somerset Friends of Music. Help us support the Music program by purchasing your Calendar Raffle now! NESBA WINTER COLOR GUARD SALEM HS 3/31/18: The following documents for this event and ALL COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE WINTER MARCHING ARTS ENSEMBLES ARE AVAILABLE VIA THE BAND APP: NESBA Guard Championship Finals Competition Schedule Official NESBA Order of Performance Directions to Salem High School Please check the schedule as it has many important details on it! If you are interested in being a chaperone for the event, please just respond to the poll on the BAND app and I'll put you on the list! Each week prior to an event I will send a weekly notification to inform you of the schedule and to see if you are available to join us as a helper/chaperone.

2 SBRHS SPRING POPS CONCERT (NEW FORMAT): Just a friendly reminder Our annual Spring Concert featuring the Winter Hornline, Winter Color Guard, Winter Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Amplified Show Choir and Electrify Show Choir will take place at SBRHS on Wednesday, April 4, This year we will also do things a little different and hold the concert in two locations! The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the gym so that the Hornline, Color Guard, and Percussion Ensemble can perform their full shows for the audience. We will then take a short intermission to migrate to the Performing Arts Center where the Jazz Band and Show Choirs will finish the evening! We hope you enjoy this full performance experience! See you on April 4 th! DISNEY TRIP UPDATES: 1. MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS AND PARENTS Pre-Trip Meeting Date Final Meeting with World Class Vacations will take place on Tuesday, April 10, 7:00 p.m. in the SBRHS Performing Arts Center. BAND App All communication on the Trip between directors, staff, chaperones and participants will take place using the BAND App. You will need to join our SBRHS 2018 Disney Trip BAND App group. We ask that students, chaperones and participants on the trip only use the CHAT function (Public or Private) to communicate with each other or the staff on the BAND App Group. Directors and Staff will POST on the page to get general minute to minute instructions to the group. If students, chaperones, and participants begin to POST in the group, the important instructions will be sent further and further down the feed, making it less accessible. 7 DISNEY TOUR 2018 APRIL 20 24, 2018 CONTRACT Please print and return to the Music Department as soon as possible or by October 13 th, 2017 with your first payment. Student Name... Instrument/Guard... I hereby acknowledge and accept the following rules regarding the 2018 Disney Trip. I agree to abide by these rules and all other policies which have been adopted or may be adopted in the future by the Music department regarding this event. I understand that the policies of the Somerset Berkley Music Department presented earlier in the year (and approved by the Somerset Berkley School Committee) will be adhered to. I also promise that I will: 1. Learn all music/drill/routines to the best of my ability. 2. Attend all rehearsals and performances on time. An Excused Absence Form must accompany all absences and be presented to your director 2 weeks ahead of time. Any failure to attend a rehearsal or continued absences without good reason may constitute grounds for exclusion. 3. Cooperate fully with chaperones and all other administrative officials. 4. Neither use nor have in my possession at any time alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, illegal drugs or any substances forbidden per the SBRHS Student Handbook. 5. Stay in designated housing facility throughout the duration of the Trip. 6. Not request a room change. 7. Not be in an unassigned room without the permission of a chaperone. 8. Not use the Hotel Room telephones except in case of an emergency. 9. Not participate in pranks or vandalism of any kind. If I damage any property, my parents and/or I will assume full financial responsibility. (Damage to any Hotel Room may be assessed equally among those students assigned to the room). 10. Be in my assigned room at curfew time and remain in my assigned room until wake-up time (unless I am otherwise granted permission by an assigned chaperon). 11. Conduct myself courteously and appropriately at all times. 12. It is understood that I signed this contract that I plan to be part of this Trip. The cost of the trip is based on 200 participants. Therefore, any change in this number will increase the price of the trip divided among the remaining students. 13. Abide by all decisions made by appropriate Music Instructors / Officials and obey all regulations listed above as well as any other regulations which may be implemented in the future by the group leaders. 14. Dress in an appropriate manner. No questionable attire will be allowed. I understand that membership in the Somerset Berkley Regional High School music department is a privilege and that membership will be forfeited if I fail to comply with any of the above rules. If it is necessary that I be sent home from Disney, my parents and school officials will be notified, and my parents will be asked to provide immediate transportation home. All instrumentalists will be required to sight-read a short selection from either the musical or a passage similar in style to the show s score. 3. THIS IS THE ONLY DATE FOR AUDITIONS!!! MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE IF YOU ARE NOT!!! We need to know what instruments we will not have for the show in order to start to hire professional sit-ins. Therefore we need to know immediately what our student instrumentation is! For students with scheduling difficulties, I will try to help by allowing you to audition either earlier or later, depending upon your schedule. However, you must audition after school on Monday January 26, 2018! ALL ACCEPTED STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAKE ALL REHEARSALS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LEGITIMATE 2 WEEK OR EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION. NESBA Badges are not valid at this event. All non-participants must have a ticket or pay at the gate. Parent Helpers will be provided with the extra wristbands and tickets that we have. WE MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH WRISTBANDS OR TICKETS FOR ALL HELPERS! PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PAY ADMISSION IF NECESSARY!!! Admission to the event is $ Please make arrangements to bring food/snack (healthy food, i.e. fruits, sandwiches and water) and bring money for concession at the NESBA show! 3. There will be NO VIDEOTAPING allowed at this event. 4. There will be NO GROUP PHOTOS taken by a professional photographer at this event.
