1 Dear Applicant: Tanah Keeta Scout Reservation Summer Camp Staff Application Thank you for applying to work on the summer camp staff of the, Boy Scouts of America. A summer spent at a Boy Scout camp is one of the most memorable experiences you will have in your lifetime. Every successful summer camp owes its success to the magic that is created by the collaboration of a group of very dedicated and talented individuals. You could be part of the magic of the summer camp experience this year and join a great tradition that was started at tanah Keeta a long time ago. As a staff member, you will be called upon to work long hours, endure irksome tasks, demonstrate self discipline and be faced with a continuum of challenging responsibilities. Before you complete and submit this application, reflect for a moment and ask yourself why you want to be on camp staff? Do you have valuable skills to offer? Are you mature and dedicated enough to offer cheerful service? Are you ready to accept responsibility for your own actions? Is experience, fellowship, and serving others more important to you than compensation? Are you ready for this highly challenging experience? Serving on the staff of the is also a huge challenge. Each year more and more youth and their leaders will pass through the camp gates holding high expectations of the awesome adventure that awaits. We will have over fifty camp staff positions that will be filled from the best available candidates. Some positions have age and training requirements. Please review the list of staff position s on page 4 before you finalize this application. If you believe you are ready to be a member of the camp staff or are a returning staff member, please submit this form as soon as possible. Camp staff development begins in January with tryouts and training beginning in February. That means if you are interested in joining our staff you should plan on attending our upcoming staff tryout/staff development weekend(s). 6 SECTION VIII OBJECTIVES The objectives of Scouting are, according to the Charter and Bylaws under which the movement operates, character development, citizenship training, mental and physical fitness. Leaders and boys of all races, creeds, and colors subscribe to the Scout Oath, Promise and Law, which reads in part: On my honor I will do my duty to God and my country and the 12th point of the Scout Law which reads A Scout is reverent. He is reverent towards God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion. The Boy Scouts of America Declaration of Religious Principle states the Boy Scouts of America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing his obligation to God, and therefore, acknowledges the religious element in the training of the member, but it is absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward the religious training. Its policy is that the organization or institution with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to his religious life. It is the policy of not to demean, object or ridicule anyone because of the religion to which they subscribe or the manner in which they observe it.
