7 12d Solution Pty Ltd 3.0 Starting with a Baic Drainage Network Thee coure note aume that you have completed the Stormwater Deign Coure and that you have experience creating 12d model drainage network with catchment area. Thi coure will begin with a completed drainage deign found in the directory \12djob\coure\7.00\drainage\local road complete 4.0 Excavation Quantitie Sample template are included in the coure ection of 12djob (\12djob\coure\7.00\drainage\pipe template.tpl). The template from thi template library may be added to your project uing Deign=>Template=>Utilitie=>Input. Thi routine ue 12d template to calculate the excavation volume for all of the drainage tring in a model. An option to create ection for a tin on top of the pipe i alo available o that the drainage long ection can include hatching between the obvert of the pipe and the deign tin under road. Template with name et to the pipe diameter (time 1000) are ued for the calculation, thu trench hape can be cutomied and over excavation for bedding material can be included. Net area calculation to exclude pipe area are not upported. Key point 1. One template for each pipe ize (mm) 2. If obvert template are ued, add the prefix obvert to the pipe ize 3. Carefully conider the tin elected. A template mut exit for each pipe ize in the model (pipe ize x 1000). For example a 0.3m pipe will require a template to exit named 300. A 0.5ft pipe would require a template named 500. Sample template are included in the coure ection of 12djob (\12djob\coure\7.00\drainage). Thee may be copied to your *.project directory and then added to your project uing Deign=>Template=>Utilitie=>Add=>All all to project. The template are run along the tring and the total volume are reported. Volume for each tring are given in the report file. An example follow. 15 12d Solution Pty Ltd 6.0 Exporting to Drainage Deign Software Package 12d contain mot of the data required for your drainage deign package. However, each package ha pecific deign variable that 12d doe not have acce too. The deign proce i intended to export your data from 12d to the deign package, deign the drainage ytem and then read the reult back into 12d for your long ection. If pit/pipe are to be added/deleted from your network during the deign proce you are afet to add/delete the pit/pipe to 12d and to your deign package eparately. Not recommended and a a poor alternative, you have the option of reading the reult back into 12d, adding/deleting the pit/pipe and then exporting the data to a new drainage project in your drainage deign oftware. A 12d doe not have acce to all of the data in the deign package thi method i not recommended! Some of the drainage deign program offer a third option that allow you to import data on top of an exiting project thereby merging and over writing the exiting data. Be ure to contact the drainage oftware upplier to obtain exact detail of how the merging proce i performed. The interface i run by electing Import/Export from the Drainage Network Editor Deign->Drainage-Sewer->Network Editor Revied February d Advanced Stormwater Coure Note Page 15 of 72

16 4D Solution Pty Ltd The Drainage model i the model currently being edited. The I/O action determine if data i exported or imported and enable/diable many of the field below. The I/O format elect which external program the 12d i interfacing with. Some program ue the window clipboard and other ue file. If the clipboard i ued the data will alo be written to a file by 12d in cae you need to take the data to another computer. The Export option have lightly different effect depending on the I/ O format (program) elected above. Therefore they will be dicued later with the variou format. Export pipe diameter and invert i generally elect for exiting ytem only. If your deign program will et invert level and pipe ize then turn thi tick box off for new ytem.some deign program will require initial invert and pipe ize. In thi cae thi box hould be elected on the firt export. Export default catchment/pit parameter i generally elected for the firt export. For ubequent export turn thi election off and then only the catchment area (if the model i upplied above) will be exported. Revied February d Advanced Stormwater Coure Note Page 16 of 72

17 12d Solution Pty Ltd 7.0 Drainage Data Input and Output to Spreadheet Spreadheet are an effective method to manage the numerou variable urban drainage deigner create in the modelling proce. Spreadheet data can be tranferred to and from 12d in tab delimited file and tored within 12d a uer definable attribute. Thee attribute are linked to the pit and pipe within a network. Drainage long ection plot can diplay the pipe attribute in the arrow data area and pit attribute in the bubble area. Drainage plan drawing can alo how thee pit and pipe attribute. Drainage tring will be created if they do not exit in the model but manhole cannot be added to exiting tring. See alo 12d to preadheet tranfer Spreadheet to 12d update and create Spreadheet option d to preadheet tranfer Thi interface i acceed the Import/Export button on the Drainage Network Editor. Preet Output thi choice box offer the following choice: All Data: All of the 12d drainage tring data and the uer defined attribute will be exported to the clipboard in a tab delimited format. The 12d data name and the uer defined attribute name will appear at the top of the preadheet column. ILSAX: For the ILSAX program, the preadheet column heading will change depending on the pipe and catchment indicator (P2 card) and the inlet type (P3 card). Therefore, ue the ILSAX pipe editor macro to et up one pit/catchment for the type of data you wih to enter. Now when you export the pipe network data the column heading will include the name of the relevant parameter. Uer defined below: The Cutomied lit file name i ued to define the drainage value, their order and format you deire. The cutomied lit file i a text file where each line contain a drainage variable or a preadheet IO command (blank line are ignored unle preceded by the header command). 22 4D Solution Pty Ltd When 12d export the drainage model to a preadheet it include a column for the unique tring identifier and a unique manhole identifier (unique to the drainage model not the 12d project). The name of the tring and manhole may be changed via the preadheet if thee column are preent at import time. If the manhole id column i not preent, 12d will earch the drainage model for a matching manhole name. When the manhole i a junction between drainage line, only the trunk line will be the data updated Creating a New Model It i poible to create a new tring or an entire drainage network uing thi format. However, manhole cannot be added to an exiting tring. The entire drainage tring mut be created at once. Two format are available, the from-to manhole format and the 12d drainage preadheet format. At preent the network editor mut elect a drainage tring to become active. Therefore, if you are not adding tring to a network, you will have to great a drainage network with one dummy manhole. Select thi one dummy manhole to activate the editor. After importing the data and the new drainage line are created the dummy manhole may be deleted. 12d drainage preadheet Format The top left cell in the clipboard data mut be the text 12d to pecify thi format. The minimum amount of data required to create a new tring i the tring name, manhole name, x and y coordinate. You can add a much additional data a you have available. Thi would include pipe diameter invert etc. The manhole mut be lited from uptream to downtream order. If the tring i to join a trunk line, the junction manhole mut be included for both the tributary and the trunk line. An example file exit called new_network.txt i upplied in the library. Open thi file in a preadheet or a text editor and copy it to the clipboard. Set the I/O Action to Import and elect Run. The new drainage line will exit in the model currently being edited. From-to Manhole Format The top left cell in the clipboard data mut be the text from to to pecify thi format. The minimum amount of data required to create a new tring i the uptream pit name "*pit name), the downtream pit name (*d pit name) and the x(x location) and y(y location) coordinate of the uptream pit. If the tring i to join a trunk line, the junction manhole mut be included for both the tributary and the trunk line. An optional column for the manhole cover elev (cover elev) may be pecified. Once the network ha been created additional pipe and manhole data may be added uing the 12d drainage preadheet format decribed above. An example file exit called new_from_to_network.txt i upplied in the library. It i hown below. Open thi file in a preadheet or a text editor and copy it to the clipboard.
