Applications may be obtained at To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet certain income criteria including eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant financial aid program, scholastic average, class standing, overall school record, recommendations and potential for academic success. BP COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Open to high school graduates residing in NYC, entering a 2 or 4 year college and demonstrating financial need. Visit BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - College-bound seniors who plan to major in a course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business related programs of study. Criteria for scholarship is as follows: academic achievement, financial need, participation and leadership in community and school activities, work experience, US citizen/ permanent resident and interest in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. Special consideration will be given to the following applicants: first generation college, female, minority, or a dependent of a military personnel. The CUNY Institute of Mexican Studies will be awarding $5,000 scholarships to CUNY undergraduates who are undocumented. ZAGLIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND - Scholarship opportunity for seniors who have shown exceptional promise in the arts, including literature, fine arts, music, and the performance, or in a specific academic field. Applicants must have graduated from a District 21 elementary and/or middle school. Scholarships, based on a combination of merit and need, are awarded once a year and average $2500. GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP - A significant monetary award up to $300,000 for study up to six years of study for students of African American, American Indian - Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, Hispanic American descent with a 3.3 GPA, leadership background, and financial need. Visit Deadline: January of senior year HADAR FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - Seeking students who have a definitive goal of pursuing the creative arts in college. This includes the literary arts, music, theater or visual arts. The foundation will provide monetary support up to six years of higher education. For application award visit LOS PADRES FOUNDATION - Scholarship program for Hispanic students of $2,000 per year, renewable for four years at a post-secondary education in an accredited 4-year college/university, minimum 3.0 GPA, US citizen/legal resident, first generation in the family to attend college, must meet federal guidelines for low income. 4 ROBERT SANSONE ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP - The criteria for this award is based on the academic elements of character, scholarship, leadership and service. We are interested in helping those students who demonstrate financial need. Deadline: April RON BROWN SCHOLARSHIP - The Ron Brown Scholar Program (RBSP) honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship.h ps:// on/apply/. Deadline: January THE JOSEPHINE HURLEY SCHOLARSHIP: ESTHER CHAPTER No Offering The Josephine Hurley Scholarship to seniors who have made the most significant and positive commitment to both their academics and community. Two scholarships will be given. The scholarship recipient must attend the annual Rose of Sharon Awards and Scholarship Gala when awarded the monetary scholarship. The criteria is as follows: Provide proof of acceptance into a postsecondary, or university/collegiate program, have a GPA of 85 or above, have community involvement, leadership activities, and submit a word essay. TheDream.us SCHOLARSHIP: FOR THE UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT - range between $12,000 to $25,000 per year and provide 100 percent funding for tuition, fees, and books. According to the website, students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and are eligible for an additional $1,000 to $2,000 honors award if they graduate with a GPA of 3.5 or greater. Visit THE MILKEN FAMILY FOUNDATION - Milken Scholars Program For seniors who are collegebound and have overcome social, economic, or other obstacles. Candidates must have a 3.6 average or 90 in all academic subject areas, minimum SAT score of 1850 or an ACT score of 28, active participation in community service activities, a record of leadership, financial need or other obstacles, US citizenship or permanent residency and admission to a four-year college/university. A large majority of students selected are students who do not have a parent or guardian who graduated from a four-year college/university in the US. THE MORRIS & EVE BROWN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - open to graduating seniors who have a demonstrated excellence and interest in the field of language. Prospective candidates should have a definitive goal of majoring in language, either English or foreign. $2000 award. Deadline: April THE O KEEFE FOUNDATION, INC. - A not-for-profit charitable organization formed in memory of firefighter Patrick J. O Keefe of the FDNY s Rescue Company, who was killed at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, This scholarship is an $8,000 award paid over 4 years to any U.S. citizen, who is an immigrant or child of an immigrant OR has lost a parent to a violent act. THE JP MORGAN CHASE SMART START SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Offering a 4-year scholarship, a paid internship at JPMorgan Chase (full-time in the summer; part-time during the school year). Candidates must have a 90 GPA, 1000 SAT score must be in the top 15% of their graduating class, plan to attend either, Barnard, Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Columbia Univ., Fordham, Univ., L.I.U., NYU, Pace, Polytechnic Univ., St. Francis College, or St. John s Univ., plan to major in any discipline except life sciences or fine arts, have legal authorization to work in the U.S., demonstrate financial need.
