6 GENERAL INFORMATION KCNPNM s APRN Conference Committee members have developed a collection of 70 sessions and workshops by taking suggestions from last year s participants and looking at the needs relevant to APRN practice today. This 30th Coalition Conference presents a great line-up of faculty presenting new research guaranteed to enhance your knowledge and your practice. CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION Participants must attend the entire session(s) and complete evaluations to receive contact hours. KBN approved: full program of up to 28.2 contact hours (50 min. contact hour). KBN provider number ANCC approved: full program of up to 23.5 contact hours (60 min. contact hour). The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA) AANP approved: This activity is approved for up to 23.5 contact hours of continuing education by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. This activity was planned in accordance with AANP Accreditation Standards and Policies. ACNM Specialty credit has been applied for to total 2.1 (.1 = 60 min.) *NOTE: Pharmacology contact hours per session can be found on the conference page at kcnpnm.org **NOTE: Most State and National Boards accept contact hours from this conference, check with your Educational Board Director to confirm acceptance of Continuing Education Credits GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The purpose of the conference is to offer professional presentations and practical workshops that promote clinical excellence and improve the quality of care provided by the healthcare practitioner. By attending this conference and participating in the educational sessions, the attendee will be able to: 1. Consult with experts in primary and acute care specialties. 2. Discuss issues related to Primary Care/Adult Health, Women s Health, Pediatrics, Acute Care, Midwifery, and Psychiatric practice. 3. Develop assessment and clinical management skills. 4. Evaluate current and new treatment methods and pharmacologic therapies. 5. Identify issues that affect advanced practice including; reimbursement, malpractice, clinical practice guidelines and new technologies. 6. Increase advanced practice skills to provide expanded services. There will be no refunds after April 17, HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS The Hyatt Regency has agreed to set aside a block of rooms for our attendees until March 29, Reservations can be made at our negotiated discounted rate of $174 at kcnpnm.org/conference. Founded in 2005, the Americana Fiberworks Program reached out to Somali Bantu refugee women, who were a recently resettled group at that time. The Fiberworks program promotes the positive integration of refugee women into the community through a shared interest in the fiber arts. Participants in the program have the opportunity to develop their fiber arts skills, practice English, build a new social support network and create crafts both for their families to use and for retail to earn supplemental income. Eighty percent of every sale is given directly to the artisan who created it and the remaining profits are put directly back into the program itself.
