1 Profiles of facilities, staff, volunteers, families and residents in Kentucky s long term care facilities. The Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities held its Annual Meeting and Expo building a Game Plan for Success at the Galt House in Louisville Nov More than 700 long-term care providers met during the meeting, attending educational sessions on vital issues they are facing. The week was capped off with the Quality Awards Banquet and the new Best of Kentucky Nursing and Award honoring 21 Kentucky providers for outstanding care. KAHCF will hold its 2018 Annual Meeting Nov at the Galt House. Dee Metcalf Overall Supportive Caregiver Winner Superior Care Home, Inc., Paducah Dee s peers call her a Spark Plug, breathing life into every activity as the Social Event Director. She shows excitement and compassion in everything, calling Woo Hoo! as she enters a room to let everyone know they are about to have fun and celebrate life. She is also very community minded, recognizing police officers and organizing care packages for cancer residents among other things. Adrene Commodore Overall Nursing Care Winner Grand Haven Nursing and, Cynthiana The Assistant Director of Nursing at Grand Haven, Adrene defines teamwork. She never looks at her staff as them but us and keeps situations calm with her wit and laughter. She demonstrated her devotion to her residents by still working a half day every day while undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer. Despite losing her voice for a month, she still led her team in communicating with residents and staff. Winter 2018 Margie Rose Cook Overall Caregiving Winner Letcher Manor Nursing and Facility, Whitesburg This 70-year-old Nurse Aide Staff Coordinator shows how to care for others by caring for her staff by donating uniforms as well as toys and food for their families. Despite her own health issues this year, she made sure the facility s annual Mother s Day event went on as planned. She also shows great compassion for her staff, providing basic needs such as groceries, toys and milk for her staff s children. of Long Term Care

Judy The Association paid tribute to its former President, James S. Judy, who passed away on September 16, Mr. Judy served as President of the Association from 1979 to 1999, during which time he oversaw growth in membership and the Association s political clout to advocate for long term care providers. Past Ira O. Wallace winners and other Association leaders shared their memories of Mr. Judy, and it was announced that the KAHCF Training will be renamed in his honor. Winter 2018 of Long Term Care
