6 HISTORY 2007 Kumba urgently needed to establish HIV and ARV services for contractors and the surrounding community Nearest ARV site was 50km away and this ARV site was overburdened Kumba delivered presentations to the previous Northern Cape Premier and MEC 6

7 HISTORY CONTINUED Approval received Technical Team established to drive the whole process; consisted of Project Manager, DOH District and Provincial Local Municipality, Sishen representatives and Vitality (previous DOH service provider) assisted with clinic Accreditation Clinic established within 4 months 7

8 HISTORY CONTINUED Delivered to date: Jan 2008 to Jun 2011 > 38,500 tested 4283 tested in the 2011 HCT campaign to date 668 on ARV (current patient load community patients not Kumba employees) 8

9 ACCREDITATION UGM received accreditation on the 5th of June 2008 (within 6 months of application) 9

10 COMMUNITY The mining industry, unlike other industries, has a responsibility for the surrounding community with regards to sustainable development Kumba has developed a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) by setting up a Not for Profite Organisation (NPO) called the UGM Wellness Clinic, which partners with the National Department of Health 10

12 UGM SERVICES HIV Information and Awareness Programmes HCT Disease Management Programme SCREENING TESTS TB, hypertension, diabetes, Hb, BMI and STI s CANSA Health Awareness Campaigns and screening tests PSA and PAP smear and breast exam PEP access to 24 hour Call centre PMTCT Reporting of clinical data to DoH and Anglo and Kumba and the Provincial and District AIDS Councils.

Mobile unit that is both Clinic and Mini Hospital Funded by the Batho Pele Health Project (Sishen Mine) in partnership with the Department of Health Kumba will carry the costs for the next 2 years to give the DOH time to budget sufficiently The Mobile Clinics will rotate weekly in areas with no medical facility The Clinic (9 units) will be towed by 2 4x4 Land Cruisers Services Primary Health Care HIV Testing and Treatment 16
