1 Looking back on 2014 Looking back at this past year, we can honestly say that it was 12 months filled with numerous highlights, exciting new opportunities and more than it s fair share of challenges. However, it was without a doubt a groundbreaking year for POLYCO! 2014 was a period of consolidation and growth, starting with building a competent, full time resource team and then implementing our robust Project Funding programme to grow polyolefin collections and recycling in South Africa. You will also have noticed that we launched our new revised logo, which aptly depicts our mission statement Reducing Plastic Packaging to Landfill. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our members and supporters who have chosen to partner with us. Your support has helped us achieve the successes that we are proud to share with you in the following pages. Mandy Naudé

4 Report Back: FUNDING PROJECTS ' % COLLECTORS Inwaste Green. Tembisa, Gauteng. Redesigning of the facility to maximise the efficiency of the operation. Awaiting delivery of new baler and conveyor system. Cages and truck are being converted and new cages constructed. Bon Accord, Pretoria. New equipment delivered, upskilling of personnel and IT underway. Overberg, Grabouw. New equipment purchased, including a granulator, trailer, sorting sheds, bale bags, containers and bins. The first two sites are now operational, with second site still to be set up. Paul Rantofi. Butterworth, Eastern Cape. Expanded collection territory and is delivering increased volumnes VERIGREEN Pinetown, KZN. Branded cages and trailers expected to be delivered early 2015 in order to support the SuperMama initiative. Myplas. Bellville, Cape Town. Three collectors (Cape, Limpopo and Boland) have received their equipment. Expecting to see increase in volumes collected early in Mywaste. Currently in final staged of project development and testing mode. Expected to "go live" mid-december Mpact. KwaZulu-Natal. Running slightly behind schedule as a result of the process of identifying a suitable location. A full-time resource manager has been appointed to oversee the project.

5 Announcing the winners of the 2nd round of funding for 2014: POLYCO S second Request for Proposals was made in July this year, inviting recycling companies to submit proposals for funding that would be used to grow their projects and have a direct impact on the sustainable growth of polyolefin plastics recycling. Recyclers Rock!! MYPLAS Western Cape. This recycler is busy addressing the production constraints in his plant in Stikland, Belville. With POLYCO s assistance, the company will be able to easily unlock additional capacity over the next 6 months. Italian Plastic Technologies. Gauteng. This recycler of difficult to recycle waste has been in operation for over 17 years. In order to meet the growth in customer demand, they need improved shredding and washing facilities, and POLYCO s funding will go a long way towards assisting them in achieving this goal. Mountain View Plastics. Gauteng. This recycler bought an existing business, which now has old equipment that is unreliable and costly to maintain. Unable to expand and grow without a cash injection, POLYCO s funding will allow them to take their operation to the next level by acquiring a modern wash plant facility, which is automated and energy efficient Polymark Recycling North West Province. This recycling facility has been operational for the past twenty years. However, the business is currently at a stage where they need to upgrade their washing and drying facilities to take their business to the next stage of development. Partnering with POLYCO will allow them to significantly increase their volumes and produce a higher quality product for their clients on a plant that promotes sustainability, through the use of considerably less water. EMET Gauteng. EMET will use POLYCO s grant to automate and optimise operations, as well as introduce more energy efficient equipment. They will be moving their operation next door to their sister Company, InWaste Green, in Tembisa so as to minimize logistic costs and to streamline operations. Coastal Recycling POLYCO s funds will be assisting the previously known Collect-All Plastics, to start up again, and to rebuild their business gutted by fire earlier this year. Funding received will go towards an extruder and granulator, so as to be able to assist them to service the East London area, an area that they have dedicatedly serviced for the past 20 years.

8 Looking ahead... A SNEAK PEAK AT 2015 WHAT'S IN STORE FOR THE YEAR AHEAD? 1. Our successful Project Funding programme will continue. Key ates are: January 2015 Recycling Request for Proposals (Quality Management Equipment ) April 2015 Collection Request for Proposals August 2015 Recycling Request for Proposals 2. We will be upgrading our website to an interactive, informative site in the first quarter of next year. Watch this space! 3. We will be focusing on consumer education and awareness programs with regards to separation and recycling initiatives. 4. There will be a follow on POLYCO competition to look forward to.
