1 THE FOX THEATRE INSTITUTE GRANT DESCRIPTION This grant is designed t cmplete prjects and develp cmmunity-wide participatin at the lcal level. Als knwn as the brick and mrtar grant, this annual basis grant is awarded t assist theaters in cmpleting prjects including acquiring histric prperty, purchase and installatin f equipment, and renvatin/cnstructin f prperty. Grants are awarded n an annual basis and may supprt the fllwing kinds f needs: Securing an engineering and/r architectural team t prvide final planning and budgets. Cmpleting an verall preservatin prject r repurpsing f a related structure, either a phase r ther imprtant imprvements accrding t a study and planning prcess. Cmpletin f a multi-year preservatin plan r a lng-term preservatin plan fr an histric structure. Acquisitin f a histric prperty r related prperties. Acquisitin f real prperty r cnstructin. Prject may include renvatin/alteratin f prperty t cmply with Sectin 504 f the 1974 Rehabilitatin Act and the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act. Purchase and installatin f equipment, such as assistive listening access, seating, listening devices, staging, sund equipment, lighting equipment, and prjectin systems that will expand accessibility and availability f prgramming. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS In rder t be eligible fr grant funding, prperties must be: Owned by a public agency, 501(c)(3), r ther nnprfit rganizatin. 50 years r lder and/r: Listed n the Natinal Register f Histric Places. Listed as a Natinal Histric Landmark. Cntributing member f a Natinal Register Histric District. Listed as a cntributing resurce t a lcal histric district. Eligible fr any f the abve. 1 P a g e

2 IMPORTANT INFORMATION Applicants may apply fr grants starting at $50,000 t upwards f $250,000. Multi-phased prjects may apply fr funding fr three cnsecutive years nt t exceed $500,000 during this three-year perid. Organizatins receiving funding f $250,000 r abve are nt eligible t re-apply fr three years. Reapplicatin may nly be made fr a new prject that demnstrates its imprtance r benefits beynd the achievements f the earlier prject. APPLICATION TIMELINE Applicatins fr the Fx Theatre Institute Preservatin Grant Prgram are due August 15, This is a pstmark deadline and grants will nt be accepted after this deadline. Our FTI Grant Cmmittee will review the applicatins and grant award ntificatins will be sent in late Octber Partial grant funding will be issued by December 1, 2018, and the remainder by June 30, 2019, with prf f cmpletin f the cntract s scpe f wrk. GRANT CONDITIONS T the greatest extent pssible, any dcuments r plans fr preservatin wrk that result frm the prject must cnfrm t the Secretary f the Interir s Standards fr the Treatment f Histric Prperties. A cpy f these may be fund at At least three (3) cmpetitive bids/qutes must be btained fr any prcurement f services that exceed $10,000. This prvisin applies nly t prtins f the prject supprted by this grant fund. The Fx Theatre Institute may request additinal rganizatinal infrmatin if needed t supprt the grant applicatin and/r cntract. Grant recipients are required t sign a cntract agreeing t the cnditins f the prgram. Apart frm multi-phased prjects, grant prjects must be cmpleted by June 1, Failure t cmplete the prject in this timeframe may result in the cancellatin f the grant. GUIDING CRITERIA Applicants shuld be able t speak t the fllwing: The histric significance f the prperty t be assisted and evidence f cmmunity supprt. The need fr funding and the urgency f the prject r the lng-term bjectives r impact f the prject. Increased cultural and/r ecnmic impact fr the cmmunity. 2 P a g e

3 Invlvement f cllabratins and partnerships that leverage additinal public and private investment. The adequacy f plans t meet the current needs and fr the future care and maintenance f the theater r the cntinuatin fr the activity fr which grant supprt is requested. The fllwing criteria will be used t evaluate and rank applicatins fr these grant funds: Histrical significance f the resurce. Physical cnditin f the prperty. Prpsed use f the site and quality f the interpretive prgram. Quality f the preliminary planning r cntract dcuments, including credentials f the prject team, feasibility f the budget, and wrk schedule. Apprpriateness f the prject t meet the needs f the resurce. Ability f the applicant t match the funds requested and t cmplete the prpsed wrk, maintain the prperty, administer the grant funds, and develp prgrams t sustain and interpret the prperty. HOW TO APPLY The Fx Theatre Institute suggests an initial phne call r meeting t review yur prject, the needs, and t btain guidance n yur grant applicatin. The fllwing items are required fr yur applicatin submissin: 1. Cmpleted cpy f apprpriate applicatin frm, narrative, and enclsures as fllws. 2. Signed Certificatin frm. 3. Up t ten high reslutin digital images (minimum 300 dpi) with captin and credit infrmatin. Applicatins must include at least ne verall view f the prperty. Images shuld be saved as individual files t a flash drive and n Wrd r PDF images will be accepted. 4. A list f the applicant rganizatin s current bard, including fficers and prfessinal and civic affiliatins. 5. Applicant s IRS determinatin letter f tax-exempt status r spnsr. If tax-exempt status has nt been fully apprved by the IRS, please prvide evidence f filing. 6. Qualificatins f any cnsultants, prject managers, r persnnel administering the prject. 7. One sample f prmtinal material fr yur rganizatin. 8. A minimum f three letters f endrsement (e.g. frm cmmunity leaders, gvernment fficials, and histric preservatinists). 9.
