2 Topics Share with you the need for high school space in the western Prince William County area Provide information on a proposed location of the 13 th high school to solve these space needs Listen to your input, opinions, and suggestions November 9,

3 13 th High School Site The School Division s Capital Improvements Program (CIP) calls for a 13 th high school in the western PWC area to open in September 2021 The high school has been delayed twice in the CIP due to lack of a suitable site PWCS staff have investigated many sites in the western PWC area There is a very limited supply of buildable 80 +/- acre sites in western PWC November 9,

4 Search for Site to Relieve the Western PWC Area History of our search for a high school site Specifically identified as a CIP need in the CIP (spring 2010) for September 2019 opening Delays due to no site CIP delayed one year to CIP delayed again one year to 2021 Have met with PWC Planning Office, BOCS members to gain their recommendations and suggestions November 9,

6 Stone Haven Rezoning Timeline REZ #PLN December 18, 2013 School Board votes to request an 84-acre site from the applicant March 17, 2014 Applicant revises rezoning, providing an 85-acre site for a high school and reducing units to 1,650 May 7, 2014 School Board unanimously votes to send development impact statement to County stating that the School Division s concerns have been addressed by the applicant s proffer of 85 acres for a high school site October 7, 2014 Board of County Supervisors holds Public Hearing, defers Stone Haven rezoning August 7, 2015 Applicant resubmits rezoning, reduces units from 1,650 to 1,006, leaves high school site intact November 9,

14 Timing When do we need the site? 13 th high school is slated to open September 2021 Acquisition, design, bid, award contract, and construction require a total of 4 ½ to 5 ½ years to complete PFR (Public Facility Review) requirements Determination of suitability of site in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan to be used for public facilities 4 to 6 months to receive approval to proceed Planning Commission approval is not guaranteed November 9,

15 Transportation Evaluation of Site Access from Linton Hall Road at Rollins Ford Existing Traffic Signal Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) is being conducted and will be submitted with the PFR Road improvements determined by results of TIA November 9,

16 Environmental Evaluation of Site Stormwater Management will be accomplished onsite according to new regulations All environmental studies conducted for PFR approval will be posted on our website November 9,

17 Intended Next Steps Review community comments Adjustments where logical and feasible Share any new plans with community Gain reasonable assurance that site use is viable with community Finalize purchase of property Submit Public Facility Review (PFR) through the Planning Commission November 9,
