1 Companies of the French Tech Côte d Azur 2015 French Tech Côte d Azur Closer relationships for better communication. Being formally recognized, the collective of entrepreneurs of French Tech Côte d Azur continues the progress of its action plan; it is supported by all the players in the local ecosystem. Among the major themes of this mobilization, a survey with detailed inputs and enriched by new criteria related to businesses, was conducted in close collaboration with the teams of the French Riviera Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The goal: improve knowledge to better work together and enrich the value of our innovative group of companies. By promoting the exchange of information, businesses are working together to better expand their prospection in France and abroad with relevant offers to major clients. This synergy naturally leads to greater efficiency of our entire ecosystem for investment, training, innovation and employment. The result: A return to constructive dialogue among public authorities, associations, and private actors, dealing with the entrepreneurial class and its real needs... all together for a territory in motion. Meeting the challenge of a strong France around the dynamics of the startups and their attractiveness - the slogan of the French Tech initiative launched by our government. Without a doubt, the Côte d Azur intends to strengthen its internationally renowned showcase, recognized for its attractiveness capacity that is unified in innovative excellence. Thank you everyone for your engagement. Receiving its label in June 2015, the French Tech Côte d Azur is a large collective project that aims to give greater support to the growth of startups and promising local companies of the digital sector. Together, all the partners of the ecosystem in the digital economy have the same ambitions: promote business growth, create new jobs, develop the international profile of its activity, and favor innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit. Along with many other objectives of the French Tech Côte d Azur, it also has the desire to raise awareness of the business fabric that composes it, its strengths, its assets and its economic weight. The Economic Observatory Sirius-CCI, in partnership with the collective entrepreneurs of the French Tech Côte d Azur, has launched a survey of all the companies that work in digital innovation within the French Tech. The goal? To know these companies, the areas of their development, and their economic weight... The synthesis presented by Sirius-CCI allows for the characterization of the main features of the network of companies: they are mainly young companies (almost half are less than 5 years old), a characteristic inherent to innovation. They are very international (30% of companies are already working on international markets), necessary to be players in the global economy, and have strong potentials for more ambitious deployments (close to 180 million fundraising conducted between 2012 and 2014). Thanks to the mobilization of the entire collective ecosystem, we are focusing our powers to better accompany our businesses, and we are ready to meet the challenge of the French Tech Côte d Azur. Bernard KLEYNHOFF Olivier COURTADE French Tech Côte d Azur President of the Nice Côte d Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry More information:

2 Introduction to the French Tech Côte d Azur The French Tech Côte d Azur ecosystem has accelerated its initiatives for the growth of its tech champions as well as the emergence and development of startups in the territory. The recognition of the French Tech label is an opportunity for the innovative digital sector of the Côte d Azur, a dense and dynamic sector focused on gaining visibility and growth, and aims to invent the uses and jobs of tomorrow. The French Tech dynamically accelerates the IT ecosystem with endogenous growth driven by technological innovation. A rich and united ecosystem Nice, Sophia Antipolis, Cannes, Grasse, and the entire region have joined forces to build a single movement, bringing together large groups, growing businesses, SMEs, and startups. They unite competitiveness clusters, universities and research laboratories, communities of entrepreneurs, and institutions, with one ambition: the growth of the French Tech Côte d Azur. What are our objectives? From wireless technology and on-board electronics, to 3D imaging, the Internet of Things, security, microelectronics and computer science on complex systems, the Côte d Azur hosts all key technology sectors for information and communications. With its worldwide technological expertise, the French Tech Côte d Azur sets out to create the most favorable conditions of experimentation and innovation in five strategic business areas: e-health, e-learning, e-energy and smart grids, e-mobility, e-tourism, and e-environment. The French Tech Côte d Azur has 2 strategic objectives: # rebalance growth through the local development of businesses that capitalize on the existing ecosystem to grow and expand internationally. # support its increasing technological line on modeling topics, complex systems, and "big data". # 50 new startups are eligible each year for an acceleration process in the next 3 years Objectives # 10 new tech champions for international projection in 10 years # Promote international collective momentum The committed resources: More than 150 public, private, and mixed organizations are mobilized to identify, accommodate, support and accelerate the growth of startups and tech champions on the Côte d Azur. Alongside actors already in place (incubators, public and private accelerators, platforms, labs...), the French Tech Côte d Azur opens the door for ambitious new projects. There are 7 new private and public accelerators that have been established in the territory to boost growth in startups with strong potential. There are 2 totem buildings (SophiaTech and Paillon 2020) that will support animation, collaboration and cross-fertilization dynamics for innovation and business development.
