2 Tel Aviv University Tel Aviv University (TAU), Founded in 1956, is the largest and most comprehensive institution of higher learning and research in Israel. It offers 125 schools and departments across the spectrum of sciences, humanities and arts, and 128 research centers. In the lucrative Shanghai Ranking for 2013, TAU was named one of the best 150 Universities in the world. TAU graduates excel in all fields, and the current IDF chiefs of staff, as well as the current Mayor of Tel Aviv, are amongst its many notable alumni. StarTAU StarTau was established in 2009 in order to serve Israel s aspiring entrepreneurs. We guide entrepreneurs from a variety of business fields, including: internet, biotech, mobile apps, low-tech, patent licensing, medical devices, and more. We link private sector entrepreneurship, angels, VC s, and companies to the academy and the public sector. StarTau has been named one of the best 3 academy business incubators in the world according to the latest UBI index report. TAU Ventures Tel Aviv University has maintained its position for the third consecutive year among the top ten universities in the world for producing VC-backed entrepreneurs, and the 1 st outside of the US. The rankings were published by the Pitch Book Universities Report , which grades universities according to the number of graduates who founded venture-backed startups. At the undergraduate level, TAU came 9 th, with 515 graduates raising $5.1 billion. TAU Ventures, the University s new innovation and entrepreneurship center that is now under development, will provide an expanded platform for startups to flourish. Ramot Ramot is Tel Aviv University's (TAU) technology transfer company and its liaison to the industry, bringing promising scientific discoveries made at the university to the industry's attention. The company provides both legal and commercial frameworks for inventions made by TAU faculty, students and researchers, protecting discoveries with patents and working jointly with the industry to bring scientific innovations to the market.
