3 The Silver Economy : a multi-industry market The silver economy gathers all the players producing goods and/or services which meet specific seniors needs and uses. It is a global economy which has ramifications in various industries : health, housing, communication, transports, security, services, distribution, leisure, etc. and creates economical and social wealth. This economical approach of ageing represents opportunities in terms of growth, production and employment. The silver economy has been appointed by the French government as a priority industry and a 2013 governmental report has set the conditions to help the market s structuration (Cf. Contrat de Filière Silver Economie ). 3
4 The Silver Valley, a dynamic ecosystem serving its members needs Our ambition : To boost the development of innovative economical activities meeting the elder s uses to favor ageing better and to create growth and employment in the Ile-de-France region. Our missions : 1. Strengthen and animate an ecosystem to generate the conditions favorable to the development and commercialization of solutions for well-ageing 2. Develop the awareness of public, private and academic players on the opportunities generated by population ageing 3. Support the silver economy players in their innovation strategy and understanding of the needs and uses of senior 4. Develop the territorial attractiveness of the Ile-de-France region and promote French solutions on an international level The Ile-de-France region 4

9 The Bourse Charles Foix : a stepping stone for innovative projects 11 th edition in prize winners since 2004 (more than distributed) National visibility, jury composed of experts recognized on an international level Each prize winner gets a grant and a personalized support from Silver Valley on strategic and operational matters. An example of a successful project : EyeBrain, created in 2008 by Serge Kinkingnéhun winner of the 2007 edition. EyeBrain develops tools to help early diagnosis of neurological diseases. 11 Silver Valley s expertise is recognized at an international level On the request of Québec s Health Minister, Silver Valley accomplished a consulting mission to develop an equivalent structure in Canada. This mission was realized with partners such as the Research centre in ageing, the Sherbrooke university and the cluster Sage-Innovation. Silver Valley thus helped the cluster structure its specification needs and service offer Carol Fillion, copresident of Sage Innovation. Jérôme Arnaud, president of Silver Valley. Framework agreement signed in October 2014 : enhance the complementarity of the two clusters Silver Valley and SAGE- Innovation dedicated to the Silver Economy in France and Quebec to keep a position of key international players. 11

13 A sustainable business model The Silver Valley has developed a sustainable business model in order to guarantee the sustainability of its action. In 2014, the balance of funding from public agencies and private players has been reached.
