Financial Update Maria elected Agreement to proceed with $100 for trays to assist with Healthy Snack/month initiative Superstore will no longer be able to support healthy snack initiative School Council to potentially fund the purchase of monthly healthy snack Catherine to investigate company to prepare healthy snack if School Council purchases the food. 6. RAZKids 11 classes ~$1130 Canadian Previously approved funds Saba to find out what grade levels are available for the program

Great Start Conference Membership runs from Nov 2017 to Nov 2018 Irum attended Four goals of Peel District School Board; 1) high expectation, 2) inclusion, 3) mental well-being, 4) engagement The more parent engagement, the more successful school initiatives are Minutes are important for rationale, reference, and follow-up actions, decisions, accountability and timelines are clear. Five steps for communicating effectively in a digital world; 1) Audience (know who they are), 2) define goals clearly, 3) key messages, 4) tools (virtual/physical), 5) evaluate efforts (did the message achieve its purpose?) 8. Healthy Living Support Grant Application to support two water refill stations (grant will only cover infrastructure) Parent Council to potentially support the purchase of two additional water refill stations Parent Council to purchase water bottles and use them to fundraise for filters/maintenance at school events Saba to submit scanned application November 28, 2017 Saba to order water bottles? Parent Council to support filters and maintenance 9. Movie Night Dec 1 st Attendance currently at 270 Awaiting response from Meadowvale Secondary School re: student volunteers Catherine to make big WASHROOM signs Four Plum Tree Staff will be volunteering

3 Pre-entertainment will be available (Odd Squad, Just Dance, Disney Movie Trivia) 10. Social Media Committee Jamil demonstrated draft Facebook and live Twitter page for Parent Council Parent Council would advertise fundraisers, events and put call outs for volunteers on these platforms Photos will not be posted Jamil to develop Plum Tree Park Public School Parent Council Social Media Policy Admin, editor and moderator roles will be required Plum Tree Park Public School Twitter account is already live and we will continue to use it. Target mid-december to launch Facebook page 11. Council Initiatives Fun Fair Find out if June 20 th is available with vendors June 19 th back-up date Sub-committee required: Roni, Victoria, Catherine, Kasia, Devi, Saba, Karen Greeting Cards Each class designs one card Cards are blank on the inside Mix of types of cards (birthday, holidays, etc.) Krish to find out if June 20 th is available from vendors Catherine to parents for volunteers Fun Fair Jamil to tweet for volunteers for Fun Fair Fun Fair Subcommittee to meet before January to decide on food vendors Sell package of cards at school events and through take-home flyers

4 Krispy Kreme $5-$7 for 12 donuts and can sell each donut for $1 Plum Tree Water Bottles Will support Earth Day and Great Gulp Purchase 1000 bottles Saba to find out cost of water bottles Alibaba is a cheap website to purchase water bottles from Council agreed to charge $5/water bottle Move-a-thon Can raise between $10K - $20K Could replace Power of Plum Each student could have a goal to raise $7-$10 x 3 Council would bring in the DJ Funds raised would go towards the school Roni and Victoria to outline what this would look like for a February event Mona to investigate if we could give out tax receipts for donations DJ could give out glow sticks February potential date October 2018 for Halloween potential date Bake Sale Logistical issues with execution No concert to sell items at

5 SPC Coupon Book 12. Other/Questions Not as popular now with all the cost-saving apps/websites Could Plum Tree have a healthy fundraising policy? Appeared to be mixed messaging to sell cookies to raise funds for a water re-fill station to promote less consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages. Cookie sales associated with water re-fill station adhere to School Food and Beverage Policy Next Meeting: January 29, 2018
