How do you maintain your credentials for managing, auditing, or implementing your institution s compliance function that relates to money laundering, terrorist financing, or even national security? It is a question you will have to answer during every future BSA/AML regulatory examination. Your answer will serve as the regulators first impression of you and your bank s compliance efforts. The curriculum for this school changes every year. Your continued attendance establishes your bank s and your own commitment to staying abreast of your institution s most dynamic and pervasive compliance responsibility. Every bank must provide ongoing training to those responsible for BSA and AML compliance. This school gives your bank an opportunity to listen to and interact with regulators from both the state and federal functional regulatory agencies. It also allows you a unique opportunity to get some rare how-to instruction in BSA/AML compliance issues. Audience/Program Level/Delivery Method This live, overview program focuses on the many current BSA/AML issues facing financial firms and will assist them with ideas to meet the annual training requirements imposed by the BSA regulations. It also offers attendees with the opportunity to network with other professionals interested in BSA compliance. Participants will receive an updated manual and will have ample time to ask about issues/situations within their own financial firm. NOTE: This is not an introductory program; all attendees are required to have at least six hours of formal BSA/AML training prior to attending. The Tennessee Bankers Association sponsors a one-day BSA/AML overview program in several locations across the state each fall. Who Should Attend This school is designed for personnel who have management and/or functional-level responsibilities for BSA compliance and/or operations. Individuals with retail banking, risk management, compliance, audit, operational, corporate banking, and training responsibilities will benefit from this program.

This is a fast paced review of the good, the bad, and the ugly BSA/AML compliance milestones we have all passed since the last 12 months. Insights are offered about how these developments may or may not have affected your day to day compliance efforts. The major enforcement actions, BSA reporting trends, proposed regulations, notices of proposed rule-making, and inter-agency guidance are all addressed. 10:30 10:45 a.m. Break 10:45 a.m. Noon DUE DILIGENCE AND CUSTOMER RISK PROFILES New regulations create a fifth pillar for your institution s BSA/AML compliance program; i.e. they establish an explicit legal requirement for a due diligence program based on a customer s risk profile and conducting ongoing monitoring to update customer information as well as monitoring to identify and report suspicious transactions. Part of this session will explain the dos and don ts of the recent changes in the Cuban, Russian, and Iranian OFAC Sanction Programs. They will provide an overview of their agency s current approach to BSA/AML examinations, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in give and take discussions. This is your chance to see what the focal points of your next on-site examination might be. This year panel members are asked to focus on their expectations regarding the implementation of the new due diligence regulation. 10:30 10:45 a.m. Break 10:45 Noon THE SAR REVIEW TEAM AND EFFECTIVE SARs Jimmie Lynn Ramsaur, Criminal Chief, Middle District of Tennessee, US Attorney s Office Nashville, Tenn. Ramsaur will discuss the function of the SAR review teams in Tennessee. Representatives of law enforcement who can provide tips on how to make SARs more effective and usable by law enforcement have been invited to participate in this session.

One of the original pillars of your BSA/AML program is a mandate for independent testing that must be done every 12 to 18 months. The results of that test are oftentimes the springboard for the next regulatory examination. Each of these panelists routinely conduct independent tests for Tennessee banks, and they will offer their insights into engagement letters, transaction testing, work papers, what regulators expect in their report and how to document your bank s responses and corrective action. 2:30 2:45 p.m. Break 2:45 3:30 p.m. APPENDIX A: YOU WANT SPRINKLES ON THAT? Appendix A and the information it requires are at the heart of a bank s compliance with the new due diligence regulation. It s used as is or it can be modified. As easy as it might be to accept the government s document, it s important that every bank do a critical evaluation to see if the form can be/should be modified to better suit their firm s needs. 3:30 4:00 p.m. WHILE YOU RE AT IT The new due diligence regulation requires a board-approved revision of your BSA/AML program. In this presentation, Golliher makes some specific suggestions and even provides some sample wording for those changes.
