Yesterday, we sat down with Linda Gooden, head of Lockheed Martin s $12 billion Information Systems & Global Solutions business unit, who tells us the company is putting increased emphasis on international projects. Some examples: Lockheed is in talks to integrate Australia s tax office systems and is developing the system for the British 2011 census. (In the US Census they received forms, recorded results, provided analytics, and are producing reports to Labor and Commerce). That s not to say Lockheed is not continuing its work in the states. It has two neat projects in development: the ultra-secure IronClad thumb drive lets a person keep their entire desktop in their pocket. They can go on any computer and have all their files and data, but when they leave there is no record they were there, Linda says. They're also developing

2 the MONAX smartphone system, which allows soldiers to securely deliver and receive data, imagery, and video over an affordable modified commercial 3G broadband network. And yes that is an Emmy behind Linda, one of two she has won (more than Susan Lucci) for funding two videos showing off the company s capabilities. Outside of work, Linda has two different interests: reading and going fast. She reads mostly historical non-fiction and just finished a book about Louis Armstrong on improvising and leadership. On the speed side, she races around in a black Porsche Cayman and once spent a week learning the car s capabilities on a race track. Don't Call Them; They'll Call You
