12 12 Relevance Scope of the Market We are talking about a significant amount of money Europe has invested USD 8,758 Bn in Global Sustainable Investments in 2012, about three times more than the U.S. Social impact investing is expected to reach by 2020: About 1 trillion USD at world level About 30 billion USD at Italian level In Europe, social economy includes 2 million enterprises (i.e., 10 % of all European businesses) and employs over 14.5 million employees (i.e., 6,5 % of working population)

17 17 The educational project key goals and competences developed (2/2) To achieve this goals the educational project aim to provide students with the tools to: Understand and learn how rising societal challenges are changing the way companies operate and create value. Understand and learn how these challenges can be addressed through the development of new business models, new forms of partnership, and the exploitation of new product and process technologies. Understand and learn how to design and implement strategic, financial and operational instruments to implement these new business solutions (e.g. impact investing, frugal innovation, lifecycle approaches ). Understand and learn how to work in a multi-objective and multistakeholder context, interacting with entities that are pursuing the tradeoffs between economic, social and environmental performances.

20 Business in Transformation: Social and Sustainability Challenges Lab The Lab as a training arena based on the idea of learning by doing and strengthening the student s soft skills. Two intensive weeks to better understand the impact of societal challenges on companies business models and learn how to use tools and instruments to implement new business solutions. Group works with direct involvement in hands on projects in a real-world company defining and applying a comprehensive plan, following the implementation to selected solutions and evaluating short and long term impacts. International faculty with a multidisciplinary perspective. 20
