3 Waxahachie ISD will host an Open House for the community to tour the new high school on August 13th at 6:00PM. WHS & Global High School Technology Student Association students represented Waxahachie ISD at the State Contest in Atlanta. The Waxahachie High School chapt er also accept ed t he award for "Chapter Excellence," which is given to one high school in the state of Texas. The process to earn the distinguished award is by application by a st udent member and part icipat ion in t he areas of chapt er involvement, fundraising, and leadership act ivit ies. The applicat ion was submitted by another chapter of TSA in the state of Texas. The Career and Technical St udent Organizat ion for st udent s in t he Agricult ure Food and Nat ural Resources Career Clust er Waxahachie FFA attended the Texas FFA Convention.

The Lone St ar FFA Degree recognizes FFA members who have received the Chapter degree, been active FFA members for at least two years, completed at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintained a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, demonst rat ed t heir leadership skills, and have shown a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter level and above. The Waxahachie FFA Chapt er was also recognized as a silver-level Chapter for the esteemed Golden Horizon award in the Multi-Teacher Division at convent ion. The silver-level Golden Horizon award is t he one

7 of the highest state rating bestowed upon a chapter. Golden Horizon award select ion is based on except ional chapt er involvement and activities within the school and community. The Golden Horizon award recognizes well-rounded chapt er involvement t hat promot es maximum participation in order to deliver all facets of the agricultural education program. The 90t h annual Texas FFA Convent ion recorded approximat ely 13,000 members and guests. Members of the state's largest agricultural youth leadership organizat ion spent t he week at t ending leadership workshops, participating in events and activities, being recognized for their achievements, and serving as the legislative body for the Texas FFA Associat ion. The Texas FFA is t he nat ion's largest st at e FFA associat ion wit h a membership of more t han 119,000. FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real world experiences t hrough local, st at e and nat ional compet it ions. 14 Season Ticket Info Education Foundation Spirit Flag Program

15 In cooperat ion wit h t he Waxahachie Rot ary Club, t he Educat ion Foundat ion for Waxahachie ISD is selling spirit flags wit h poles t o Waxahachie residents and businesses. The goal of the program is to foster community support for Waxahachie ISD students' activities and accomplishment s. Those who purchase flags will receive an telling them about every community spirit day that they should put their flag out for - everything from football games to UIL academic competitions to band or theater competitions. Funds raised by flag sales allow the Foundation to expand our mission of providing grant s for innovat ive classroom project s, dual credit scholarships for high school st udent s, and college scholarships for WISD graduat es. How does t he program work? You buy the flag and pole from the Education Foundation for $100. The Foundat ion delivers your flag and pole. On specified days (or anytime you want to show your Hachie spirit), place the flag in the sleeve at your curb. (Don't have a Rot ary Club flag sleeve already? We will place and maint ain one

16 for you at no extra cost!) You remove and store your own flag when it's not in use. We will have a calendar available here with dates to fly your spirit flag! The spirit flag program is conduct ed in conjunct ion wit h t he Waxahachie Rot ary Club's flag program. On Rot ary Flag holidays - Memorial Day through Flag Day, Fourth of July, September 11 through Labor Day, and Veterans Day - please do not fly your Indian flag. When t he American flag is flying in your sleeve, please don't remove it - our nat ion's flag t akes precedence over your spirit flag. Rot ary Flag memberships are available at ht t p:// ary.org/.
