1 Chili Chowdown! hosted by Broughton High School Band Join us for Chili Chowdown! hosted by Broughton Band. This event offers a chili dinner (bowl of chili, corn bread, drink and dessert) $6 adult, $4 age 10 and under (at the door prices), a chance to bid on an amazing Silent Auction items, purchase home-made baked goods and enjoy some live music from your own BHS band members. Come and spend the evening with us!! Want to help out?? We have needs in every department. Ticket Sales: We are asking that every band student pre-sell 4 tickets to this event. See the enclosed pre-sell order form, it has all the information regarding tickets. Silent Auction: Solicit auction items for your own student band account or the whole band. See enclosed information about how to contribute with your special donation. Help with dinner: Chili is being donated by Waffle House, but we could use volunteers to help with baking dessert. We need several pans of pan cookies. We are hoping to keep all desserts similar, so if you would like to bake up some brownies or chocolate chip pan cookies, rice krispy treats or lemon bars, we can use your help. Set up/clean up: Event will run from 4:30-8:00 on Saturday February 28. We will need help setting up tables, chairs, simple decorations. Students are all required to sign up for one of these two shifts as well as attend the event. Hang posters: We need help hanging posters (and taking them down afterwards), Cameron Village (must get permission first), Seaboard Station (must get permission first), telephone poles down Saint Mary's, Oberlin, Clark and Peace Streets. Also all surrounding streets to Broughton, and around campus! Bake Sale: Chaired by Jackie Van-Onselder, more information to follow. 3 Chili Chow Down Silent Auction Information Did you receive a present that you just don't know what to do with? Donate new (still in the package/ unopened items), art, jewelry, collectibles and events (football tickets, vacation packages) to be auctioned off to benefit the Broughton Band. No item is too small. For example, nail polish or a match box car can be grouped into a themed basket. Themed basket ideas include but are not limited to; a movie basket, a bath goods basket, a BBQ basket. Volunteers will group items into categories, so don't get too caught up on whether you think it will sell. We also could use basket making materials such as; baskets, buckets and other large containers (a popcorn bowl) in good condition, cellophane, shredded paper, Easter grass, Styrofoam peanuts, ribbon etc. Auction items will be collected and securely stored in the band room. Sign in your donation and its estimated fair market value (FMV). Any student donation will receive the auction value into the student individual band account, or a ratable portion of, if grouped with similar items. Student donated auction items with a FMV of $100 or more will have a minimum bid established. If the student donated item does not sell for the minimum bid, it will be returned to the student. Business donated items not selling for the minimum will be retained for a future fundraising event. If you know someone who owns a restaurant, store/ shop or provides a service that could be auctioned off, please ask them if they are willing to donate to the Broughton Band. Let them know that their gift is tax deductible and present them with the attached letter. Ask them if they will also advertise the event in their establishment with our attached poster. Let them know that we will be posting donors and donated items on our web site as well as recognition at the auction. The below establishments have already been approached with their response noted. Please do not approach them again. If you know someone at one of the below establishments that has pledged to help, please contact them and thank them.
