2 What s Happening Public Library Science Event Math Pentathlon Information Meeting Family Bingo Night Mohawk Trails Elementary Art Gallery Exhibit Families with children in grades 3-8, don't miss this great opportunity to explore aspects of science and technology on Saturday, January 27! The event will feature the Purdue University Physics Department's Sidewalk Science stations with 15 hands-on activities to investigate physical science phenomena. To expand on these experiences, there will be other interesting interactive displays involving STEM. No registration is required! For more information, call the Children's Desk at This program will be held in the Program Room from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Do you know that Mohawk Trails has the longest running math pentathlon program across all of the Carmel Clay Schools? All students (grades K-5) can participate, we have a division for everyone. To learn more about math pentathlon, what it entails, and how it works, join us at the information meeting on January 30th at 6:30 pm in the Media Center. All families are welcome. We will collect the $42 tournament fee at this meeting. We are in search of a leader for the 2 nd /3 rd grade. Practices will start in early February. Please contact Jen Witherbee: jenwitherbee76@gmail.com Join your fellow MTE families on February 2 for an all ages, free Bingo Night at Mohawk Trails Elementary. The doors will open at 6:45, Bingo goes from 7:00-8:00. There will be snacks and water provided and lots of prizes. Please R.S.V.P by Monday, January 29th at February 15, 2018, 6-8pm Families Last Name A-K pm Families Last Name L-Z pm With the help of the Artome art company, we will be turning our gym and cafeteria into an art gallery. Every Mohawk Trails student will have a professionally framed piece of art on display. These framed works of art will be available for purchase. Each framed piece is priced at $ Additional framed prints are also available. Mohawk Trails will receive a percentage of the sale price. Proceeds from the sale will go directly to MTE s students for future needs. Payment can be made with cash or check. All artwork on display was created with a Gelli printmaking technique. These printing tools were funded by the Carmel Education Foundation. The Carmel Clay Elementary Art Teachers submitted a grant for the purchase of these materials. Our school was given the opportunity to use these materials in the creation of our art work. They will look amazing in their frames. Please mark your calendars for this special and unique event in support of your students and our art program. Thank you, Mr. Barajas

3 Save your Box Tops and help Mohawk Trails earn extra $$! Help Mohawk Trails earn $$ by saving Box Tops for Education labels found on products you buy for your family. Last year, box tops submissions helped our school earn more than $1,800! The grade level that collects the most box tops per student will earn an extra recess! Submit Box Tops labels by Tuesday, Feb. 20 Please help the PTO volunteers who count our submissions and be sure to: PACKAGE Box Tops into baggies of 50 marked with the number on the outside (Please write the number on the outside of the bag for any packaged baggies with less than 50 box tops.), or GLUE Box Tops onto the collection sheet that was sent home. SUBMIT Box Tops that have not expired - expired labels won t count toward our school s total or the extra recess reward CUT OUT Box Tops along dotted line so entire printed area shows - labels cut without the expiration date cannot be submitted for payment Tips to help get you started: Collect labels in a baggie taped in your pantry or on the refrigerator Ask family and friends to collect too! Invite co-workers to participate. Place a jar on your desk for easy workplace collections Visit BoxTops4Education.com to: o Review lists of eligible products o Sign-up to get Box Tops product coupons via Download the Box Tops for Education app and scan your receipts to earn more points for our school This is the final collection period for the 2017/2018 school year. Continue to save your labels for submission in fall 2018! Note: The Labels for Education (Campbell s Soup Labels) program is no longer being offered. Labels submitted will not count toward school totals.
